sohotheatre.com/events/blizzard/Booked this out of curiosity, I had no idea who Emily Woof was or about her type of comedy. More of a short play than stand-up, quite surreal at times, it had me crying with laughter at one point and very moved at the end. Fantastic show. I'll definitely will follow her from now on.

Hah jr - you might have started something here; maybe you should ask Soho Theatre for commission? I also read your review and the Guardian one to which you posted a link and booked as it sounded intriguing and interesting.. A short play with a 7 pm start is evening theatre I can cope with; otherwise I only do early evening films now. |

Sometimes I come here when I see something bad and feel cheated but think I should champion shows when they surprise me and they are not as well known/promoted.

Hope you'll enjoy it and report back! The reason I joined Theatre Board was because I wanted to find recommendations to shows I might otherwise miss. I find professional reviews often unreliable and the info from other posters really useful. |

Emily Woof wrote, directed and acted in several very highly acclaimed solo pieces in the 1990 (most were seen at the Royal Court) which involved elements of gymnastics, dance and usually trapeze work. I recall that she broke her leg during the run of one of them so performed an Edinburgh festival season wearing a plaster cast. Since then she's appeared in films, television and written a couple of novels. She is a very singular talent and it's great that she's back on stage many years later.
She's definitely not a stand-up comic, rather she's a brilliant theatre maker. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this.

I was in town anyway but wondered if the Soho Theatre ever have a programme of several different shows? So glad you liked it too. Soho theatre has several shows daily at different times/rooms. Not sure if you are asking if they have packages to book more than 1 show on the same date. As far as I'm aware you need to book them individually. They do quite a few "work in progress" shows which I find very interesting. Usually cheaper and, though they are still developing and not a final product, it is very interesting seeing the process and how they work on the jokes, structure, etc. |

Any way just an idea because I think more people should go and see Emily Woof! |

That was the point I was making, many people need something else, in addition to a one hour show to make it worth their while to travel into central London. So in my case I was already doing something else in central London on the day I went. And booking 2 different shows on the same day may well be too expensive for many people. |
