He’s not been the weakest part of anything I’ve seen him in, this included. And to suggest he’s not opened up some conversation in the mainstream about certain areas of theatre, and done a lot of good for it over a period where the industry struggled, is wrong. He champions the arts in a way of a lot of ’celebs’, and even performers, don’t.

I am a fan so perhaps bias, but I do think he’s getting a bit of a hard time here. As ‘stunt’ castings go, he’s at the very least a safe pair of hands and actually I think does a pretty good job. On the whole, I also think he does a lot for the theatre community in the mainstream too so another tick from me. He has hosted a couple of the National Lottery musical shows from Manchester so I agree with you about the work he does for the mainstream theatre community, especially for the touring shows.

I didn't say he doesn't do a lot for the arts? He does! I just wish he was better at being in musicals than he is.

I quote tweeted an article once saying that I need him to stop being in musicals and he came for me on Twitter 😂
I think what he does to raise awareness for the arts is great - I just don't think he needs to be in it 🤷🏻♂️

My next door neighbours have just returned from a family wedding in America and they told me that they were talking to the parents of one of the ensemble. They knew I'd seen the show and remembered me commenting about the audience reaction so mentioned it to the parents who said that their son and other cast members had said the same and were blown away by the reaction. I love that as he is quite young and this was one of his first musicals so will be a fantastic and memorable experience.
