I thought that the SP had taken on the role that the Theatre Royal Stratford E15 had when it was in it's prime. I saw Our House at E15 back in 1993? and really enjoyed it. There were plenty of Madness songs played really well. I would recommend it as a really good show and hope and expect that the SP show will be as good as the E15 one.

Big fan of Madness (and 2tone/ska in general) and have never seen this. Have bought a ticket.
Also bought a ticket for Into The Woods a few weeks earlier. What is the general standard of NYMT productions?

What is the general standard of NYMT productions? The productions they staged, of "Sunday in the Park with George" and "Parade," at The Other Palace, directed by Hannah Chiswick, were excellent. Be prepared for young people playing older roles, of course.  |

Similarly I really enjoyed Merrily we roll along at Southwark last year. It's the nature of that show of course that the leads will always be the "wrong" age for part of the show, but it was trickier when, for instance, the characters' parents were portrayed by the young cast.

I believe you're thinking of a different Madness musical - 'One Step Beyond' by Alan Gilbey - which did indeed have a run at Stratford East in 1993. Interesting thought that having hosted 'Cable Street' (which is returning) and with its ongoing championing of new Musical Theatre writing, SP does indeed feel a bit like Theatre Royal Stratford East from the 90s, and early 2000s. |
