Question, once you’d bought your ticket(s), could you stay on the site and buy more without going through the queue again? I’ve seen two posts already of people looking to offload tickets as they have bought more dates than they need - posts along the lines of “oh I bought these ones but then managed to get better ones so now I’m selling the first ones.”. Did they get through the queue, grab the first tickets they saw but then stayed on the site and bought more on other dates? Whilst we’re all still waiting in the queue and some of us never get through? I went back in a few times without needing to queue. I didn’t buy anything though.

They pop up every time a big concert tour goes on sale and are relying on / exploiting people’s desperation for tickets.

I really hope this lives up to the hype. I’m only seeing this for Jamie Lloyd and I still stand by my earlier comment that Tom Holland is incredibly over rated as an actor. Hope I’m not disappointed.

Whilst we’re all still waiting in the queue and some of us never get through? Once I bought mine in the pre-sale, it didn't let me back in - which is fair enough. I was on a mobile, not sure if it might have been different if I'd used a PC instead and, say, booked in a new tab. Out of curiosity I joined the general sale queue at 12pm to see how fast it was moving. It wasn't quick but it was much faster than the pre-sale queue and it let me back in once I reached the front of the queue, presumably since I'd joined it again from scratch. Not that I bought any more tickets the second time around... the first booking was enough of a hit on my credit card!

They will be holding back seats for every performance.
There will be house seats and producer holds. Tickets will appear- but they will charge the earth for them.

Exactly this. It's so tedious having the same argument every time a show goes on sale. Not as tedious, I suspect, as being an ATG+ member and getting zero priority whatsoever for the privilege. Not as tedious as queueing for 4 hours, getting a 404 error and being kicked back to the start of the queue because it's a shambles. Seriously, do you and others on here not see any problem whatsoever with inflating the ticket prices during the presale? I am genuinely flabbergasted that many people on here are content to be mucked about and ripped off, and then make others feel wick for having the temerity to call it out. Okay, so you have a point with the ATG membership this time round - that was sh*tty and they should have done it better. Systems crash though - it happens all the time when big music gigs go on sale. It's a fact of life. But I have absolutely no issue with inflating the ticket prices during the presale. It's dynamic pricing. It's been with us for decades. The show was going to sell out today, so rather than inflate the prices tomorrow (like starlight did for example) they had to do it today or they wouldn't get the additional money (and dynamic pricing is built into a budget). I know that's an unpopular opinion, but the pricing for this (before and after the dynamic pricing) in my eyes is very reasonable.

Honestly, I didn't think it was too bad considering it's Tom Holland. Plaza Suite was a lot more expensive. Everyone uses dynamic pricing, even places like the National Theatre which upped prices for sold out shows like The Motive and the Cue once the reviews came in. All the complaints here are echoed every time a big tour goes on sale via Ticketmaster. In America, fans have started legal action over it. ATG aren't going to get sued, the Ticketmaster situation is completely different plus it's very expensive to go to court and unless you have a number of people willing to cough up then it won't happen.

They never advertised prices prior, they knew it would be a sell out. I don't really get the business logic of starting cheaper on this occasion. Demand was never going to be an issue. So to start cheap but then change after a vast majority had already sold just seems more of a sh*tty thing to do to those stil waiting rather than a sensible business move. They've missed their chance of making the most money already. The better business move to earn more money is charge more from the start.

It seems very unfair for those who are randomly allocated a higher position in the queue to fork out £20 or £30 more than those who were luckier to get an earlier position in the queue. And I am incredibly angered that ATG members like myself ended up paying £125 for the same seat that someone who signed up to a free mailing list paid £90 for an hour earlier. It sucks and ATG are the pitts.

I see Tom Holland’s posted that it sold out in 2 hours. So they don’t count the presale?

They’re just trying to make it seem more dramatic than it is. People know it didn’t sell out in just 2 hours.

It sucks and ATG are the pitts. I just don’t see how raising the prices in this way isn’t profiteering. Surely when the budget is written your best case scenario is “what if we sell all the tickets on the onsale date?” So you surely have to price the theatre in a way that would take you into a healthy profit on that basis. Unless the price hike after 90min was always the plan, perhaps to get a bit of “the prices are more reasonable than expected” buzz from the initial bookers. Either way it’s a gross practice. And it’s all very well Andrew Scott, David Tennant and the like moaning about ticket prices being unreasonable but they need to call out this sort of practice directly and say they wont work at ATG venues anymore if they continue to do it (Vanya and Good were both in ATG venues where the prices went through the roof).

Dynamic pricing during the run, when demand for remaining seats is high and reviews and audience word of mouth has everyone all a-buzz - yeah that all seems fair enough, capitalise as much as possible on your successful production.
But hiking the price in the middle of the presale is not that. They could have charged the higher prices from the start and it will still have sold out. Selling the first 10k tickets cheaper during the presale and then hiking the price for those left in the queue leaves a bad tastes compared to just having higher prices from start and everyone having paid more, kinda oddly.

As much as I like Jamie Lloyd... I feel that this Shakespeare is just so overdone - not for me. Don't really know much about Tom Holland either 😅 I feel it's naughty changing prices midway through an onsale...

The people in the queue seemed very determined, given that the entire mass stuck around for the couple of hours it took for it to sell out. Even determined theatre-goers can't be that excited about a play that comes around every year, Lloyd or not.

If there was an understudy run I'd have happily booked for that instead

I do think any actors boycotting ATG would end up hurting producers who would be left with limited venues for their shows.
