ALW and Cameron Mackintosh years ago decided against moving it to a bigger theatre and actually being in a smaller theatre has meant it's normally packed.

It would also look lost on stage at drury Lane.
An epic redesigned phantom at Drury Lane could be good though.

There was also an Irish dance show with Jean Butler called Dancing on Dangerous Ground. It went in straight after Miss Saigon but bombed in a few weeks.

Which website do you use for past productions? Would be interested in taking a look. I only used Wikipedia for the general theatre hence the missed production probably. Then I just did a search for Pirates of Penzance when it was noted that was missing. I agree though it is interesting looking back on a particular theatre for all it's productions. |

I remember seeing that ‘Pirates’ in Manchester when it toured. Seem to remember Paul Nicholas being involved.

Hugh Jackman in The Music Man could fill it.
I'm not sure Sweeney with Josh Groban would fill it. He doesn't seem as big a name here.
A new Disney show like Hercules would do well (as long as word of mouth is good)

I’ve heard people say that Roald Dahl’s The Witches would be good here on another thread, do you guys think that this would be the case? I don’t know whether ALW would stick with the pipeline of kids shows because he’s closing Frozen and has already got Matilda. It would just be interesting (sincerely - an overly optimistic person who really wants The Witches to get a future life 🤞)

Heathers I can't imagine both Drury Lane and the Gillian Lynne being closed over the winter... A theatre with that number of seats needs something to command some great ticket sales, and speculating about what could be coming that could command as much as Frozen is a wild guessing game... Whatever is gonna be announced in the near future could be a bombshell for sure. The autumn/winter season in a grand old theatre is always great for something spooky... |
