A few things- The Greatest Showman is seeking a non traditional space- not Drury Lane There will likely be a filler in there for Xmas next year- something depressing like Elf.. and then a big show will move in early 2025. That show could very well be Beetlejuice. Take my money! Not for Elf, obvs.

Is there any chance of the current Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd transferring in here? Might work, with the right stars… This was my hunch - I very much don't believe they can bring Annaleigh with that accent, but Josh with a Brit could be a goer *Accents. She went on a world tour of about fifteen, none of them close to what she should've been aiming for.

Could they choose a filler which showcases the different potential layouts?

This is stone cold dead. Not happening. You’ve been wrong before, as have I and others with the information we get. Last I heard was they’re workshopping it with changes, and I quote, “for modern audiences”, ahead of a planned TR:DL revival. The timing would line up as would the availability of the cast I’ve heard they’ve approached

Oh god no, please . I don’t want to see The Producers for a “modern audience”. I want to see it in all its brash, original glory.
And before anyone says it shouldn’t be allowed let me see you on the Book Of Mormon thread saying that it should be closed.

Elf I wasn't surprised to here, but I thought another show would be a more likely pick for TRDL than Beetlejuice would be. Surely that would do better in a smaller house? I could see it in the Adelphi but I don't think BTTF's looking to close any time soon

How well is Dolly selling? Could it/might it move to Drury Lane after its stint at the Palladium?

How well is Dolly selling? Could it/might it move to Drury Lane after its stint at the Palladium? If the cast could extend surely it would be easier to move the panto from the Palladium to Drury Lane this year. But I doubt Imelda will be able to extend. Elf is touring this winter again as no London run. Is there a second set already built?

There was an arena tour of the musical alongside the Dominion prod this christmas just gone so there's already two sets in existence

Technology & me don't mix. I'm so old I can't multiple quote!
Oliver is happening, not at the Lane, or Wimbledon, or Noel Coward!
I've heard Elf as a filler.
Also, Totoro wants a West End home, but personally I think The Lane is too big an auditorium, almost twice the size of the Barbican..

MJ at the Prince Edward pretty much rules out Oliver! going there. The rumour was it's going to its first home. Yes. I thought that after I’d posted. I guess it depends how long they think MJ’ll run and when they want to open Oliver, but guessing MJ will run long enough that Oliver’ll need to find a different venue.

The Palladium and Drury Lane are very different so the chances of Hello Dolly! transferring is very slim but also I doubt they'd want the panto to move theatres.

I couldn't imagine Beetlejuice being a big enough pull to fill Drury Lane, but we will have to wait I guess.

I'd love to see Beetlejuice there, but my gut feeling is that it needs a smaller house. I've been wrong before though! I have zero interest in The Producers, less than zero if they rework it 'for modern audiences' (goes from 'wouldn't pay to see it' to 'wouldn't take a free ticket'), so I'd personally see using the theatre for that as a waste.

Elf has to be one of the worst efforts I’ve ever seen. Absolutely dreadful.
