Anyone here who goes to see an evening show in Chichester. How do you get back to London. Is it doable? The last train looks like 10ish and takes hours. No, returning to London from Chichester by train after an evening show is no longer a practicable option. Pre COVID, not only did advance tickets only cost a fiver but there was definitely at least one direct train after 10pm and I think a final service to Victoria requiring one change after 22.30 too but neither now operate. The last direct service at 21.39 is too early for any 7.30 show at CFT. The journey at 22.08 would be too risky - allowing 15 minutes to get out of theatre, walking across the car park and to the station, a 7.30 show would need to finish by around 21.50 - and the £41 fare compared with £7 advance tickets earlier in the evening is a rip off ! Matinees work well - £14 return on advances without a railcard. |

The 22.41 from Chichester gets you to East Croydon at 00.24 and Blackfriars at 00.49. That 22.41 is scheduled to reach Gatwick at 23.51 and the final service from there to Victoria is at 23.55 - which is much too tight a connection to rely on unfortunately but might work. |

I won't be telling you how I get there though, but can exclusively reveal it will not involve train, plane or boat, and I am averse to walking. I may make use of the car park next to the theatres, and if somebody could confirm cost per hour, any evening rates and which spots are best for the theatre, plus whether there is an M&S or Waitrose nearby, it would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and whether the festival of speed at Goodwood means I need to allow four extra hours of travel time would also be helpful. |

What sort of confectionery is available to purchase in the theatre foyer? Is there ‘Oliver’ themed merch? A tatty pre-aged, tea stained tote bag perhaps or tins of pease pudding & saveloys? Would there be time to buy it if one had to voluntarily travel back to their ‘poorly situated for travel to Chichester’ home? Are they providing complimentary helicopter travel for those who don’t have the power of teleportation and won’t make it in time, after being forced to go to the theatre? Such a bind eh?

Not sure the rates. If you park near the theatre you'll queue more on the way out so swings and roundabouts where to park within the carpark. Waitrose is the other end of town, past the train station. Worth stopping separately if you want that. 2 Marks and Spencers. I never remember which one has sandwiches and which one doesn't. Not sure traffic updates for Festival of Speed but it surely won't help. This concludes Fiyero's travel update, now on to entertainment. From the little bits I've read I'm certainly not regretting booking to go 3 times!! Still got a couple of weeks until my first visit though. |

There's also a Co-op within walking distance of the theatre (Spitalfield Lane). I think it'll be different if you're coming down from London but the way I get in to Chi from the A27, there's a Sainsbury's & Lidl just as you arrive. |

The kid playing Oliver in those pictures looks so much like someone I’ve seen before but my brain isn’t figuring out who lol
Pictures look great. I can’t make it all the way to Chichester but I’ll definitely see it when it comes to London this winter - first production of Oliver i’ll see!

I see Nancy is still in that red dress Love the look of this production. It's a nice mix of the original Peter Coe/Sean Kenny and the Palladium design. And I love when they retain the famous Nancy red dress. It's a must for me. |

I see Nancy is still in that red dress I don’t see anything that looks particularly different from any other production of the last 20 years. I don’t really see what else you CAN do to it other than trying to properly put the film onstage as opposed to leaning into the darkness like Mendes et al. At this stage it’s practically a museum piece that you either love or you don’t. I spent time as an Oliver as a kid so should like it more, but I think only a big bright panto version would excite me now. |

Nothing about this looks new or different …. In fact looks like a cheaper version of the brilliant Palladium version. Hardly a surprise.
