I don't know whether answering the first question is helpful or not. I suppose it depends on your feelings about Dickens! What other Dickens novels have been made into musicals? The Mystery of Edwin Drood A Tale of Two Cities A Christmas Carol The Pickwick Papers No doubt some others have been adapted too. Smike was a great adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby in its time!

Has she lead any musicals since Cinders? Wouldn't be surprised if casting directors/producers somewhat weary of her due to all the social media shenanigans. Think she's got a new-ish baby though! that coupled with her problematic social media presence hasn't helped her. Out of curiosity, what did she say/do that was 'problematic'? Just genuinely curious, as I don't follow her anywhere.

That's what I was referring to, not today's Gielgud announcement. If CFT, the deals I got are no longer available as I looked earlier.

Do we think this show will be a tough ticket? There are loads available at CFT. Treat yourself to somewhere with less smog!

Think this could be a contender for my birthday show in December! Have very fond memories of the Drury Lane production a few years ago. She may not have been everyone’s favourite, but Jodie Prenger was actually pretty incredible as Nancy. I saw both her and Kerry Ellis during that run and Jodie was far superior in my opinion!

The Chichester Festival Theatre has a MASSIVE thrust stage, I'm guessing it's gonna be adapted to the Gielgud.
I'm intrigued enough by the stage to see it in Chichester before London, I'll just have to brave the drive...

Do we think this show will be a tough ticket? Lord no. Its not like anyone announced to be in it so far is a famous which is how previous revivals have worked. This'll be a doddle to get tickets for.

I'm seeing it twice in Chichester - beginning and end of run. That'll determine if I decide to see it again in London.

What time does priority booking begin on Friday for the Gielgud run? Is it 10am or noon?

Does anyone know the press night for this in London? I don't want to book a preview by mistake.

I'm really interested to see how this does - Oliver does well with family audiences but this has no stars in it, so it's a very different offering to the last time it was in London.

Am really looking forward to this smaller reinvention. When it premiered in 1960 there were no star names, but the show made them - Ron Moody, Georgia Brown, Barry Humphries. That might happen this time round. I personally love the fact that there aren’t big names. It doesn’t need it and will be a big hit, I’m sure.

Quite literally, screw those Gielgud prices. See it in Chichester and save a ton of money. £195 premium seats for Oliver? Do me a favour.

Yikes. Think I'll hang to see if I can nab a pair of discount seats for my birthday (Dec 27th). Haven't paid £100+ per ticket for quite a while and don't intend to for this either!

Obviously the ‘Poor Theatre’ approach of the production isn’t at all reflected in the ticket prices-shock horror..
