Really exciting news! When I saw the headline I thought "please be the musical, please be the musical" expecting to be disappointed, but "Lo" and behold my wishes have come true!
I think J-Lo might be a decent fit for Aurora, especially for numbers like Gimme Love.
Shall we start fan-casting Molina and Valentin? I think Christian Borle would make a good Valentin, although I expect they'll go for someone more known for film work.
And it must surely be mandatory for Chita to get at least a cameo appearance, thankyouverymuch!

Much as the idea of this being done at all is thrilling, it needs a real actor as Aurora to my mind.
Yes. JLo has done some acting but this needs a depth of experience that she doesn't have. Her name, however, means the project is more likely to happen.
In terms of casting, Chita would be the obvious choice for Molina's mother (or reimagine the role as his grandmother depending on ages)
I would hope that the casting at least feels authentic to the setting with strong Latin representation.
A few years ago, Antonio Banderas or Ricky Martin would probably have been candidates for Valentin but that would seem unlikely now.
But let's get this made so one of my favourite scores gets the exposure it deserves
