A few days ago, we had a thread about everyone's favourite act 1 finales. This afternoon, I thought about my favourite 11 o'clock numbers and came up with these: My favourite is - drum roll - Memphis lives in me from Memphis. Other favourites are: No Good Deed from Wicked, Don't Forget Me from Smash/Bombshell (I know, technically, it's not a musical, but still...), Reasons*) from The Concrete Jungle (I don't think there's ever been a professional production, but I love this song) and last but definitely not least Once And For All from Newsies. What are yours? Also, a question for the experts: Would Beauty and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast and The Life I Never Led from Sister Act qualify as 11 o'clock numbers? *)

Well it depends on if we are including shows we haven't seen too... but I love, both seen and unseen: I Will Always Love You (The Bodyguard) She Used To Be Mine (Waitress) Roses Turn (Gypsy) Hold Me in Your Heart (Kinky Boots) If Mountains Were Easy To Climb (Mrs Henderson Presents) ... ok so I have only not seen one of those five shows.

These spring to mind for me:
'Always Starting Over' from If/Then 'The Miller's Son' from A Little Night Music 'Being Alive' from Company 'I'm Here' from The Color Purple

Oh I would add I'm Here and Memphis Lives In Me to my list too. And I Will Never Leave You from Sideshow!
Ooooo there are just too many!

Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat in Guys and Dolls. Best ensemble number in a musical. Just genius.

Totally F***ked (Spring Awakening) Freedom Run (Urinetown) Step in Time/Anything can happen (Mary Poppins) Rose's Turn (Gypsy) I'm Here (Color Purple) You won't succeed on Broadway (Spamalot) Revolting Children (Matilda) Get me to the church on time (My Fair Lady) Cabaret (Cabaret) What I did for love (Chorus Line - technically not a 11 o'clock number but still)

I'm Here, Memphis Lives in Me and No Good Deed spring to mind, along with What I Did For Love from A Chorus Line, The Point of No Return from Phantom, the title song from Cabaret, and since it's been added to productions post-the film version (and I presume will be in the London production), Listen from Dreamgirls.

Not entirely sure if some of these count as "11 o'clock" numbers but...
Betrayed (The Producers) Past The Point of No Return (Phantom) Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (Les Mis) Confrontation (Jekyll and Hyde) I Wish I Could Go Back To College (Avenue Q) Not While I'm Around (Sweeney Todd) and seeing as it's shifted for the stage....Pure Imagination (Charlie and The Chocolate Factory)

I think the 11 o'clock number from Beauty and the Beast would be A Change in Me, and not the title sing. Ditto to For Good in Wicked instead of No Good Deed.

I thought of 'The Millers Son' straight away... just lovely.
...and despite going on for a good fifteen minutes afterwards, 'What You Own' from 'Rent'.

Too many to choose just one. These (in no particular order).
Being Alive. Another Winter in a Summer Town. Cabaret. No one is alone. The Best of Times is now.
I think this might be a much edited (and added to) post.

I was going to say "Betrayed" from the Producers but I've been beaten to it.

I've always wondered whey there are called "11 O'clock numbers"? Surely even with an 8pm start a musical would not still be going at 11pm Can anyone explain please?

With Every Breath I Take from City of Angels
I love "With Every Breath I Take" - I think it's the greatest torch song ever - but I wouldn't call it the 11 o'clock number in COA. I'd say "Funny" holds that distinction.
