No, limited availability for Backstroke on the dates I wanted, so going to leave it for now. Does the Donmar put everything on sale upfront or is it likely more seats will get released later on? There are always seats later on, and I suspect there are many more being held back than usual.
That way the fewer tickets released now at inflated prices will shift, demand will build, and they can release new tranches when the productions start getting promoted on talk shows.
The problem is knowing when such tickets will be released. . .

A LOT are held back. The National Theatre does the same. You’ll easily get tickets nearer the time; just keep checking back the week before you want to go. |

It is a shame that each subsequent AD at this venue
Is less suitable
Less successful
And less respected
Than their predecessors
I personally find the newly appointed AD here lacking in scope and ambition and the choice of directors for the new shows is disappointing and unexciting

Not much left but I got a front of circle seat for Fear Of 13 towards the end of its run: wanted to see Adrien Brody but not enough to pay for membership (I looked at my booking history and there were 8 years between seeing things which speaks volumes about the kind of stuff they have been putting on there)

Indeed, I posted about this on the 28th during the members sale..contacted the donmar who took all my details and screen shot..clearly not done a thing about it Did you just wait and it eventually let you in? I don't mind being in a numbered queue, however long it is, but this system is awful because you've no idea where you are or if it is ever going to let you book! Yes... it counted down from 1 min again and again and I wondered if my first set of tickets already in my basket were going to be put back into the sales pool after so much time had past but they were still in my basket when I finally got back in to book the other shows..thankfully these all went through without additional queues! |

I think it’s highly unlikely “A LOT” are held back anymore They want the cash in hand Mainly house seats and production seats based on plans and sightlines The comparison to the NT is a bit irrelevant as firstly the capacity of all 3 venues is larger and the options for tickets nearer the time is wider |

Yeah I don't think they hold that much back. But I do remember getting tickets for Macbeth in a second ticket release as I'd failed to get tickets in the first on-sale, but got very side seats from a small handful of availability. They also had the Donmar daily tickets which I think were released a week before the relevant performance, not sure if these were just for Macbeth or how they release tickets for everything. That was the only production I've ever failed to get tickets for and been really keen to go so kept on top of ticket releases.
If you can go at short notice, there's often returns or production seats that come up online closer to the date of performance. I often booked that way when I was based in London and could go whenever.

They always release returns on the website. I’ve always managed to get a ticket for something that was previously sold out

Wasn’t online at 9am admittedly but I can’t see find any U35 tickets for any performances. This is despite being logged in, date of birth registered, etc. I hope I’m just doing something wrong and they haven’t all sold out!

Got Parsley’d! I was referring to the most and least expensive seats: Eg House Seat/sponsor seats at both venues. And the 3rd Row Side Circle seats (Donmar) and front £20 seats (for the actually not irrelevant Olivier & Lyttleton) at the National. Most not released for sale until roughly one week before each show. |

You can still try your luck: DONMAR DAILY RELEASE At the Donmar, we want to create as many opportunities as possible for people to see productions in our intimate theatre. DONMAR DAILY RELEASE means there are tickets available for our productions every day online. An allocation of tickets will be released every morning, Monday – Saturday (excluding Bank Holidays), at 10am for performances seven days later. These are only available online, subject to availability and may not be available for some performances. |
