Sounds like a very hastily organised fundraiser. They’ve been putting out messages asking for people to support them. There’ll be no set!

From WhatsonStage:
"The concert aims to raise funds for Hope Mill Theatre’s ‘Hope for the Future’ fundraising campaign, in order to secure the future life of the award-winning Manchester venue.
Directed by Joseph Houston and choreographed by William Whelton, co-founders of Hope Mill, the production will explore a new model for Hope Mill productions and aims to bring their work to a larger scale."

Meaning they’re jumping on to the concert trend?

I love Hooe Mill, the shows and the people. I also love Jodie Prenger so I'm going to support them and their work. Hope others will too

Meaning they’re jumping on to the concert trend? They were on about looking to stage their musicals in bigger venues, so hopefully this is just testing the waters for that.

Ahh I totally overlooked that it was on at the OH.
I can’t really see Jodie having the chops to carry this off but who knows.

Is this correct? They’re performing it at the HM at 4pm at £185 per ticket, then again at the OH at 7.30pm the same day?

It's a VIP ticket: In Partnership with INNSiDE by Melia Manchester, tickets include an arrival drink, a three course meal, live entertainment, and VIP tickets to the concert. So it's a Gala Pre-show event at the Hope Mill for dinner and drinks before the concert at the Opera House, and includes a VIP ticket to the concert. I'd say that's a pretty good price for what is included.

That price will just buy you a premium seat for an average West end show and not even an ice cream thrown in.

Well we can’t afford those prices oop north and we can’t be mingling with the toffs in a Sunday afternoon we’ve got clinkers to riddle, pots to side and those whippets wont feed themselves.

On a bit of a swerve from this, have I missed JP on tour in ‘a Taste of Honey’? It said it was playing Bath, presumably Theatre Royal, but of it no sign!

Is this a late April Fools? Considering this is a fundraiser to help out the Hope Mill, struggling now after doing some brilliant work in the early days, your comment is plain rude.

It toured to Bath in 2019 - don't know if it's going out again. I think that 2019 production was revised from Bijan Sheibani's 2014 NT production, adding more music/song. I saw it at the Trafalgar Studios and Jodie Prenger was excellent - the whole cast were.

I remember seeing an excellent Taste of Honey in the big touring Royal Exchange tent in the 80’s with Caroline Milmoe as Jo.

Is this a late April Fools? Considering this is a fundraiser to help out the Hope Mill, struggling now after doing some brilliant work in the early days, your comment is plain rude. Is it though? Hope Mill has always been very hit and miss for me (more miss than hit) and if you're going to do a fundraiser surely you want to get someone who's going to knock it out the park? Jodie Prenger is good fun for many things, but as Rose? It's a solid no from me.

She’s gonna be so naff as Rose… count me In!! I'd love to be there but would need to travel back to Kent via London on an overnight coach so still weighing it up at the moment. I think they should have made it a matinee with the VIP bit afterwards ! As for Jodie Prenger she is high profile, still well remembered as Nancy from Oliver, and currently in Corrie. It's a one-off fund raiser, a concert version, and her presence will put extra bums on seats. I doubt if she will be in the slightest "naff" but even if she is does it really matter ?

Would the performers usually do something like this for free? I don’t think Jodie has ever done anything at the Hope Mill so wouldn’t think she had a relationship with them as such.
