Edit to add: the metro add also mentioned "forget the haters this show is an absolute triumph" which is very unfortunate to post shortly before closing announcements

They've got swathes of tickets to sell before it closes,I suppose “ignore the haters” is a strategy that’s not been tried before so what do they have to lose?

I guess I won't be seeing it in June then. Should I make an effort to see it? Is there a show I might have seen before and either liked or hated that would be a good barometer? |

Five weeks notice for closure is reasonable.
Wessex Grove will have lost money on it but I imagine they'll still be keen to work with Ivo Van Hove again.

Personally I’m gutted, was great to have something so bold and different in the West-End.
Sad a cast recording is very unlikely.

If this had been in a venue known for artistic innovation, it might have stood a better chance.
It was never a project that held any appeal for me.
But if it had been programmed as part of a season at the Almeida or a Vic, it might have received internal company support to help with artistic development which may have delivered a better piece.
None of us like it when theatre folk lose their jobs. But the writing was on the wall long before today.

'Ignore the haters' is trying to imply an army of bigots getting pleasure from writing furtive fanfiction about kicking Sheridan in the neck. Rather than real audiences judging the cold mess of a show for what it is and voting with their feet. I don't want anything to have to close early. But I do want things to be good. |

Using "Ignore the haters" in your marketing about your show is an odd choice. It has an air of bitterness about it, whilst also acknowledging that people hated the show. Weird.
Sad that it will close and people will lose their jobs though. I thought it would cling on with Sheridan's name to sell it.

Could one of the recent Windrush stories have a short run? The Big Life from Stratford East (probably too big for a short run), or 'The Lonely Londoners' by Roy Williams which had sensation reviews at the Jeremyn Street Theatre.
I want to see 'Opening Night' still, so better get a move on. I'd be surprised if its a worse schemed out show than Jamie Lloyd's 'Sunset Boulevard'.

'Ignore the haters' is a bad take. Reducing critics of a show they paid good money for as 'haters' is wrong.

The problem is that's standard these days, whenever anyone gets any criticism or is questioned over actions they just say people are 'haters'. Couldn't possibly be in the wrong or do any self reflection
