Seems as though no-one here has seen this for the last 3 weeks or if so, they haven't commented. Well, true to my intention of (using an offer) to try it despite the balance of the reviews being against, I saw yesterday's matinee and did enjoy it and think it worth the visit. I'd aimed to go to the Thursday one but though still listed on the RC website, that performance was mysteriously removed from sale & didn't take place. Yesterday's however had an entirely decent attendance (the stalls, where I was sitting, looked almost full and I could see people in the circle, though not how many) and was well-received. I could easily criticise quite a few aspects of the writing but not the production, other than its pace, which could have done with speeding up.
Second time I've liked an RC play which others (professional and public) have tended not to; maybe that's a message for me, as I've certainly changed my mind & seen more there which others have raved about, only to be baffled & annoyed that I'd wasted my time and money.
