Largely yes - I really enjoyed Craige Els as Bob, and Julie Atherton is always superb in whatever she does and that's not different here. Jackie Clune is lovely and warm, and the vocals from the younger members of the cast were great, even if they're not the best actors. Seeing it tomorrow. As I’m a massive Danielle Steers fan ❤️

I enjoyed it more when it wasn’t tribute acts or going through events like a Wikipedia article. The cast were great!

I enjoyed it more when it wasn’t tribute acts or going through events like a Wikipedia article. The cast were great! This is a BRILLIANT comparison - the book is LITERALLY like a Wikipedia entry.

I enjoyed it more when it wasn’t tribute acts or going through events like a Wikipedia article. The cast were great! A similar comment could be made about "Come From Away" which uses a similar approach to marking the passage of time. Not a single song was performed like a tribute act.

Having slept on this, I think where this show could be improved is to shorten the character introductions at the beginning. They take too long and actually there are only perhaps six key characters and two peripheral. The rest have names but are largely superfluous.
This show has a Bat Out Of Hell style dilemma - people go for the music not the story. However it is at least bedded against the truth of how Live Aid happened. It could easily be evolved into a Geldof biopic.
I'd definitely go back (and will)!

No but there’s lots of parts where you’re watching the actual Freddie Mercury or David Bowie and that doesn’t do much for me. Come From Away is far more inventive.

The stage looks quite low - which is a good thing as I’ve got a front row seat.

So theres no original music? There's one original new track "Mrs T/Mr G" - a Hamilton style skit.

I have a spare £10 ticket for tonight's performance, it's in row E of the stalls, if anyone fancies it? Pay what you can/happy for someone to just take it, rather than it go to waste!

I think they are so early in previews that hopefully they will see the wiki elements… And tighten the show.

It would require an entire script re-write though - that's a workshop task, not a preview one...

I think they should have followed maybe the Weston-super-Mare couple, Rhys Wilkinson’s band character and Jo Foster’s character, and how Live Aid affects them. I guess Cassiopeia Berkeley-Agyepong‘s character as well!
I loved Craige Els as Bob Geldof, but we sort of know his story. By the time it gets to act 2, it starts to feel rote and episodic.
