Sounds awful ! Making stage adaptations of successful films is such a dead end, it's just a marketing exercise really. Has there ever been a stage adaptation of a film (not a musical) that ever had more than a single production ? When do we think the Donmar's Force Majeure and Berberian Sound Studio will be revived ? Or the Lyric's own Solaris ? Plus the mandatory American play of course. |

Wedding Band has recently been 'rediscovered' in the US with a couple of really well received revivals. Sounds promising

Booking opens this Wednesday, 27th. Been a really good season deal for the past few years which if repeated likely means we are in for the main stage season.

I think it's safe to say Jan hates anything American.

Or the Lyric's own Solaris ? Plus the mandatory American play of course. Interesting. There aren't many I can think of. They all tend to be turned into musicals. I have seen a few good amateur and student revivals of Festen, though it's not been seen professionally again since its original West End production, I think. Let the Right One In was revived last year at the Royal Exchange. But that was originally a book (though the film adaptation like the stage version was also pretty true to it) And, Minority Report was originally a short story turned into a somewhat over blown Tom Cruise blockbuster. Luckily it sounds like they are using that story as the source. I very much liked David Haig's Pressure so I'm actually quite excited by this. |

I think it's safe to say Jan hates anything American. I lived there for several years actually and liked it a lot. What I don’t like is American cultural imperialism in the UK subsidised sector. |

I contacted the box office regarding the 3x2 offer that they usually have. They are not doing it anymore. I think this is a mistake. If they don't have well known plays/directors/actors, that kind of offer makes me more inclined to buy tickets. At least you are not risking that much money or time travelling to Hammersmith if one of the plays is not for you. And you guaranteed yourself a place in case of sold out shows such as Schoolgirls or Acciental death.
From buying 3 tickets in previous seasons, I have come to buy none for the new one.
