Clive Rowe... interesting. I only really think of Clive Rowe as a comedy character or Dame. And I don't see Amiable as either of them. I look forward to being pleasently surprised. I'm surprised the cast Amiable as old as they have.

I've been trying to get into the sale (since its said the general onsale would be on now) but I've not been able to even get into the area to buy tickets as it keeps redirecting back to the same show information page

I’ve been insanely excited to get tickets for this show finally but now I’m so gutted for the casting. I’ve sadly never enjoyed Clive in anything I’ve seen him in and Lucie just doesn’t do it for me.
They’re obviously fine performers but I guess we all have performers we just don’t care for and this couldn’t have been much worse for me. 😞

Excited for Lucie, but who tf is he? Clive Rowe ? Amongst other things an Olivier award for Nicely Nicely in the original production of the Richard Eyre/NT Guys and Dolls. I don't see many musicals but I saw that, he (and it) were great. |

I hadn't been thinking of booking this - just because, although I've loved lots of things at the Menier, the seating is so uncomfortable. But with Clive Rowe in the mix I'm reconsidering. Loved him in both Carousel and Guys and Dolls at the National. And he is a big part of my children's growing up with pantos at Hackney Empire and his TV role in Tracey Beaker. He was also in a truely terrible BBC drama about a choir called 'All The Small Things' which starred Sarah Lancashire.

Alun Armstrong and Sharon Lee Hill were cast in the 1989 WE production. The point of it is they are mis-matched and their arrival into this small provincial village raises many eyebrows because of the age difference. She is younger and beautiful and no one can quite understand why they are together. All of that is brushed under the carpet because he bakes a fabulous baguette.

Josefina Gabrielle is always worth the cost of the ticket price no matter what she's in so I will go - I'd have just liked someone else in the female lead 😂

Booked with no issue, and without having signing up to any presale, just normal marketing mail from Menier.
Like others Josefina is always worth the ticket price and I love Clive’s voice. Hoping it’s a return to form for the Menier.

Alun Armstrong was 43 and Clive Rowe is 60
Sharon Lee-Hill was about 33 and Lucie Jones is also 33

In fairness Alun has always looked older than he is (and Clive younger!) so it sort of balances out.

Just booked.
I like Clive Rowe (although I, too, am surprised they’ve cast the role on the more ‘mature’ side), but I’ve never seen Lucie Jones in anything. She sounds powerful in online clips I’ve seen.

I listened to the London cast recording yesterday as I really didn't know any of the music. Have to say I really enjoyed it and some lovely tunes. I think this is going to be a rather nice musical.
