Still a possibility, I'd certainly check out Rush tomorrow morning and there might be some dynamic pricing for the matinee. LW Theatres do sometimes cut prices on the day particularly for single seats. |

Don't think there will be anything for the evening as it's almost sold out. But possibly for afternoon as still availability in the balcony which are currently selling for about £40 |

I can never remember the rules on sharing offers on this site - but there were a LOT of offers for the matinee over the weekend in 'the usual places and mailing lists' (hope this is ok)

If it’s a third party seat filling (papering) site then the rule is here rule #8. To be absolutely clear it’s ok to say “ShowXYZ is papering” but not “Central are offering free tickets for ShowXYZ”. If it’s a discount code from a mailing list or something like that, share away. |

It’s not even sold out for the actual concerts See, the thing is, in spite of the glorious cast that's been put together and announced bit by bit, I never felt motivated to fork out the amount of money that was requested for the kind of seat I'd want to see said glorious cast from. Personally, while I know how R&H made the history of musical theatre and their golden age scores have helped develop and grow musical theatre as an art form, I tend to not enjoy their shows entirely. Yes, the melodies are lush, but in a show they're repeated and reprised and then played by the orchestra alone... yes, voices soar and sound gorgeous over those legato melodic lines and long held notes, but (and this is a very personal thing, I am aware it's very different for others) that type of execution and performance often leaves me with a sense of "that sounded really pretty, but it didn't really move me"... and of course that's before I start looking at some of the plot and characterisation issues through a 21st century lens. In other words... no, I'm not a huge R&H fan  So while I really love a good chunk of the big names involved, and I'd have loved to see them perform I was not willing to pay 120-140£ for something I knew I'd enjoy only to an extent. On the other hand, I'd probably be willing to buy a (presumably) much more reasonably priced cinema ticket to see it on screen, as my brain would find that more acceptable. Other people may not have the same complicated relationship with R&H I have, but I suppose the economic factor may play a role in potentially favouring a cinema ticket for them as well. |

I disagree. R&H are probably one of the most commercial and most loved composers to the wider public. Attracting both theatre and movie fans. The concert dates make it pretty impossible for anyone not in London to see it, and older generations most familiar with them may not travel into London as much.
It's also has some big names, and the cinema is a lot cheaper than the theatre. Makes sense to me. There have certainly been less obviously commercial shows that have been shown in cinemas.

This is everything I thought too! When I think of R&H I automatically think of sopranos, big orchestral scores.. more like an opera than MT. This can obviously be debunked by many of their songs but that is what I think of. I would still like to go due to the fabulous names, but I don’t want to spend more than £40 and I don’t want to sit in the balcony. Does anybody know of the unsold seats in royal circle/stalls will come down at the last minute? There’s some cheap Stranger Things seats available for tonight but I don’t want to buy them incase these become reduced. What are the odds of the tickets becoming affordable? |

Banging a well-worn drum as I also hover for last minute matinee discounts, but I simply cannot see the sense in not allowing single seats to be left at this stage, or in not opening up the remaining box (currently only available if you are a group of 4, each willing to pay £110). Half-tempted to wander by the box office at 2:20 or so if there are still a lot of unsold balcony seats and see if they'll do a last minute deal...

It’s on todaytix, for the matinee only, but more expensive than just booking direct. Might be worth keeping an eye on that to see if they add a rush option at some point.
Edit: There’s a few decent looking single stalls seats tonight for 57.50, so looks like they are starting to reduce. Still some premium too.

Seems mixed crowd and all ages.

Spotted couple of programme sellers on the stairs once you go past ticket check.
Orchestra on multi levels at the back. Eitherside of the stage small staging -left a upright piano with photo frames and lamp. Right a writing desk with lamp.
Several signs about filming taking place.
