So firstly the show isn't closing. It's playing its scheduled booking period and not extending. That's a very different thing to closing early and also more positive for the show/industry and people connected to it. Also there is no tour later this year, I'm not sure where people have got that from. There was a tour post bath that got pulled due to coming into London. Regardless of whether it is not extending past scheduled booking period or not, it is still closing. It was widely believed that the cast had contracts for a year, as several cast members had commented at stage door that this was the case. Expectations were obviously for a more successful run than they had. One can't help but feel that the lack of Olivier wins may have had something to do with it, however poor ticket sales are poor ticket sales and many people who are willing to pay full price for theatre tickets want to see sure run shows such as Phantom, Les Mis, Wicked etc. |

You're dead right, it's not closing early, according to what it has always said on the posters, but there's no way the producers didn't expect to extend, or even move somewhere bigger in the WE. They couldn't recoup their investment on just a four month run in a smallish theatre. It is marketing 101 to set a booking period and then extend if it's a success, most shows do it. But they're not extending so one can only assume it hasn't been a commercial success, although most people I know who went liked it. Surely people connected to the show know the score (no pun intended) and have to move on. |

By the way has anyone seen it in the past couple of days? I think Emma Williams' understudy has been on. Not sure when Emma is back.
I saw it on Friday for the first time. Rhiannon Chesterman was on as Maureen. I thought she was good but when I got home I watched the Olivier performance on YouTube and I thought Emma was much better. |

Ooooo wow how interesting, the Balcony appears to have been taken off sale for the next three weeks bar weekends on the Delfont Mackintosh Website. Assuming they have not sold out, it appears they have had such bad business they are not even offering that area for the next few weeks!  just so sad. |

Taking the balcony off sale prevents folk like us buying a cheap balcony ticket knowing full well you will be upgraded to a top price stalls seat!! So in effect taking the cheapest seats off sale!

I've noticed this has been going on for some weeks. Quite often too they upgrade everyone in the grand circle either to the stalls or the royal circle, so the top two tiers are empty. I guess having two tiers closed off is easier for the theatre (no cleaning, fewer staff). Must look grim if you're in the cast though. The top tier can't be such a loss of revenue, maybe 100 seats at 15 quid? It's all the empty seats at the back of the stalls that cause the problems, I guess. But who in their right mind is going to go to this show and sit at the back? You're right, it is very sad.

Its notable that theatres that were full at the height of the recession now have empty seats, or even rows in the premium sections. True from Bendit through to Miss Hendersen and even Sunset - where there were two whole rows of 150 pound seats empty mid stalls. There's no point in putting one set of people off with your prices if - like at Sunset - the seats are filled by people moving after the interval who paid a sixth as much as the seat didn't sell at. I think Miss Henderson also suffers from the problem of Bendit , and Dagenham . Unless you have seen the film, and not many people see most movies, there's no idea in the title what its about for the more casual theatre goer. Up Yours Hitler might do better............. |

I personally loved it, but that's getting off-topic. So tempted to get day seats for this Henderson, since the Olivier's I haven't stopped listening to 'If Mountain's Were Easy to Climb'. |

Finally got to see it last night. An enjoyable show, well acted and some nice songs. Preferred the 1st Act to the 2nd but found my attention wandering and was kind of hoping it would end. The leads were good especially Tracie and Emma.
As others have said the comedian was awful and did nothing at all to enhance the show.
Not something I would want to see again though.
I was sitting in the 6th row of the stalls and there were plenty of seats towards the back of the stalls empty. From what I could see the dress circle was open but could not tell how full it was and it looked as if the top two tiers were closed off. You could tell from the volume of the applause that the theatre would have been only about half full. I noticed two people walk out half way through act 1 and at the start of act 2 there were further empty seats where people had not returned. I have a feeling they were tourists who had bought seats at tkts and then realised the show was not for them.
One thing I am curious about is where are the radio mic battery packs when the girls are naked? I could not see any wires or the battery packs themselves. No smutty answers either .....

Did you book full price ahead? I'm planning to dayseat when I'm in London next week, but I have no idea what kind of tickets are being sold as dayseats at the moment.

Thanks for the info guys. I am behind the times, still thinking they had a wire down their back attached to a transmitter/battery pack around their waist. Maybe thats still the case in the smaller theatres which cannot afford the latest technology.
