'And I'm Telling You . . . ' doesn't end Act 1 though does it? Isn't there an anti-climactic bit with the Dreams after it that ends the first act?

That said, if we want to include the penultimate songs of Act I, then Mrs Henderson Presents gets my vote with Living In A Dream World.

Kind of kills the mood really. On the plus side, I do hope Amber Riley wears that delightful trouser suit at the Savoy.

I would totally agree with One Day More.
I'd give my life for you from Miss Saigon.
Anthem from Chess.

Sister Act always leaves me on a high going from Raise Your Voice straight into Take Me To Heaven. (I don't like the changes to TMTH on Broadway). In The Heights has a great one too. Trying to think of more. I get goosey every time I watch/listen to Blackout!

Anything Goes at the National and at Drury Lane. The revolve revealing the band and that dancing!

Without question, 'Sunday' from 'Sunday in the Park with George'. Musically, lyrically, vocally, staging-wise, everything.
Also, another vote for 'Baby's 'The Story Goes On', a beautiful show that has never been given its due.

But now I'm not sure.

You beat me to it with 'Sunday'. I've seen many a grown man cry at that, including myself. 'Defying Gravity' leaves me cold though, just because I feel the staging is so clunky and obvious, with little magic.

One day more is hard to beat. But I also love Blackout from In The Heights, and the Act 1 Finale from Urinetown, which is a glorious pastiche of many musicals.

'If I Can't Love Her' from Beauty and the Beast was what made me fall in love with musicals.
Obviously One Day More in Les Miserables and All I Ask of You (Reprise) in Phantom
Wonderful Town has the craziest ending to the first act (or any song really) I've ever seen
Does 'One' in A Chorus Line count?
Will You was a touching song in Grey Gardens from recent memory.
Anything Goes and 'I got rhythm' from Crazy for You are songs I love to tap along to
Singin' in the Rain is an absolute joy
The big moment in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang never ceased to be amaze (well the original version anyway). 'Out There' in Barnum (the Michael Crawford version) too.

I actually agree with 1963 from Stephen Ward. Not because it is a great Act I finale, but because it is the only song I remember or thought was any good from that show.

One Act shows, like A Chorus Line, the finale can be included in this haha. So I agree, "One" is a pretty great number.

Both Blackout from In The Heights and Gold from Once have the same impact on me. They are so beautiful and moving I start crying!
And Hamilton's Non-Stop – only though I only heard it and not seen it
