I’m actually feeling pretty angry about this. Went last night and it was not good at all. Then reading the responses to people’s comments on Facebook giving the excuse that it’s in previews right now, I’m fuming! How can they justify charging £73 a seat when the play is so clearly in need of some major fixing? Saying that, I’m not sure it can be fixed. We felt there were so many missed opportunities to make this interesting. The poor actors did their best, but the writing is stagnant. The best bit for me was having a good giggle at memories of the French and Saunders Exorcist sketch …. ‘Your mother’s a biology teacher in Cheshire…’ 😂 I’m curious, did you have an interval?

Yes there was - I didn’t pay much attention to the timings but reckon the first half was around 45mins?

I think it was 50 minutes then interval so the second act was 40 minutes. It feels a lot longer though.
Agree on the prices, they were high end for Richmond and where I was you couldn't see the stairs on the right hand side which were used for some significant moments.

I was downstairs, but assumed that anyone upstairs could not see the bedroom where so much action occurred...

We were row G in the stalls and struggled to see what was going on upstairs in the bedroom… maybe the view wasn’t particularly good for anyone?!

Top price for a Friday at the Ambassador’s is £135.
Can’t wait for the feedback on that.

Have decided to cut my losses for this one, had it booked as part of a birthday trip on December 28th but can't face it! Booked for Dear England as a replacement, at least I know that one is acclaimed and I do love football. Football neutral friend will have to deal with it, but we are seeing The House Of Bernada Alba the evening before so best of both worlds.

I’m traveling to London in January and booked tickets to this play based on the cast and am so bummed to hear all the negative feedback. I’m pretty sure it will have closed by the time I’m there, but should I try to get a refund? Is that even possible? At least this would open up another slot!

They've postponed the opening and press night for a month. Shocker. Apparently cast illness has been part of the problems with the show during the rehearsal process. Yeah, right.

Have they actually postponed the move to the Ambassadors, or just the press night? I saw what Mark Shenton posted on X and it looks like the latter (now proposed for 10 Jan). Tickets still on sale from 30 Nov. Could this be a West End show that closes before it actually 'opens'?

Still opening for previews this week. The signage went up on the theatre yesterday.
I wonder if press night will ever happen if the scathing audience reviews keep rolling in.

How can they justify charging people to see something which they’re now acknowledging is nowhere near fit for the press?

I'm more shocked that it hasn't improved at least a bit.
It may never be excellent, but surely there is a lot that can change.

Could this be a West End show that closes before it actually 'opens'? It's a very smart move. The critics will be annoyed that it's mostly jump scares without a story, and this way, they can just avoid bad press and sell off the Catherine Tate (Dr Who) and David Threlfall (Shameless) names. I'm more shocked that it hasn't improved at least a bit. It may never be excellent, but surely there is a lot that can change. To improve the story (I don't think they'll bother), they could do the following. . . Some spoilers follow. . . (1) Reveal Threlfall's character's motivation from the start, for sneaking off to Enfield without his partner, rather than allow the audience to speculate that he may be a paedophile for most of the running, just trying to get a moment alone with the kids; (2) Have another character (the older daughter suits) discover what he's up to and aid him in his quest. This would allow empathetic audience build up for what he's up to and allow Threlfall to get the audience onside; (3) Have the Threllfall story impact the main story (The Enfield Haunting, which story does not advance one inch as is) a little bit, so that Catherine Tate's character ends up a little closer to dealing with her demons by the end of the plà y. In all honesty, I don't see this happening, as there's little time, and the critics are already sidelined.

Once again cancelled for the "technical requirements of the production".

I must admit I'm getting morbidly fascinated with this seemingly oncoming trainwreck...

Similarly becoming fascinated by this (and considering I hadn't even remotely considered seeing it I feel I might have to now!)

Yes! I feel like if I don't see this, I'll be missing out on something that will go down in legends.

The scenes at Shenton Towers when one of those dastardly bloggers gives this a rave review and gets their quote on the marquee!
