I also saw this last week - the group i took SCREAMED laughing. One of the funniest shows I've seen in years. 5 stars from me too.
Sadly there was a show stop due to an injury and we missed the last 12 minutes of the show. It was cancelled.
Still we didn't care and loved the catchy songs, story, witty/rude/silly humour and we all adored it.
What a talented and very very funny bunch. You must ALL see this! Go go go.

The positive reviews on here have activated my FOMO and I’m tempted to book this for half-term. I’ve also never been to the Southwark Playhouse so it’s a chance to tick that one off.

Saw it again tonight and still hilarious. Got me thinking, with a few weeks remaining of the run, what next?
Definitely seems to be more of a buzz from the Elephant run. Much busier than the midweeks at Borough.

I enjoyd this, great fun and the cast really give it 100%. Although it is relentless in tone and some pathos / emotion would be of been welcome. Great show but just not for me.

Very enjoyable - the cast and writers work so hard and are quite acrobatic. They throw in so many jokes - some land, some don’t. The comparison to Operation Mincemeat which was tonally more varied, witty and had pathos isn’t quite favourable though. Much of the audience had a great time.

That was meant to say the section on the right (so not centre stalls), but front row still, the seat closest to the centre. |

Finally got around to booking this for the matinee on the 20th. Cutting it a little fine but it looks right up my street so absolutely looking forward to it. Now I get the excitement of choosing something for the evening!

Late to the party with this one, I did go to the matinee on Thursday, using one of my PAYG tickets. They're no longer valid on the top ticket price, but I managed to get a second row ticket in a side block. There's a railing where it looks like there should be an aisle on the seating plan, but I was able to move across one seat for a clear view.
First time in the Elephant and it's a nice venue. Excellent sound quality, although some of the lyrics are impossible to make out over the band.
I believe we had four of the main leads, plus one cover, but that's only from looking at photos as there were no announcements.
It did take me a while to warm to this, but it came with several recommendations (outside TheatreBoard) and I can see why people like this. Very glad I wasn't sitting in the interaction seat. From what I can see, one guy had very much set up his partner, made even more amusing afterwards when I heard that the (non-participant) was a choreographer. I'm sure I've seen both men at shows before.
There are lots of parts of the show that look improvised, but I'd have to see this again to see how many of them happen at every performance. The microphones did always happen to be switched on at the right times.
This likely appeals to the same type of people who find Operation Mincemeat hilarious. There were several of those sat around me. It is all done very well. I don't feel the need to rush back before this closes, but I'd see it again in a future incarnation.

Well this was absolutely brilliant. The best thing I’ve seen since the first time I saw Operation Mincemeat at Riverside Studios, and the same feeling I had after that too. I’m SO glad I saw it before it closes this weekend.
All 5 of the cast are impeccable in their roles, and a lot of the songs are really good and memorable. But the comedy is just absolutely spot on.
I really hope this goes down the Operation Mincemeat route, and I really hope it does another run this year.

I often wonder about this kind of thing - how much do they screen the person in that specific seat... If it was a young child, somebody with learning difficulties or perhaps someone who had a 'liquid lunch'... would they notice? Or just carry on? Same thing with Heathers - if the person chosen as Steve became upset what happens?

The person selected to be called up on stage from that seat is pre-selected to sit there. They know they will be called up beforehand. I believe that often it’s people known by the cast. When I saw it, the production team were sat behind me talking and they knew the guy who had been chosen and were saying how they knew him.

I hate to be so negative especially as the show closes but I find the idea that this is compared to Operation Mincemeat baffling. The similarities are the ensemble, comedic nature and some theatrical tricks but I would suggest it ends there. This show is a light fun evening that relies on a lot of 4th wall breaking to hide the (also ironically referenced) bad writing......Operation Mincemeat is in comparison very expertly constructed in terms of the writing. I would not expect this show to have much further life, personally.

It's the nature of imorov. I've been Steve four times and it's very exciting! As for Police Cops, I'll be at the matinee today, currently at a 10am performance of RENT. Exciting day for me today. |

I too was a bit disappointed in this last night. To be fair, I suspect it's because I went in with such high expectations. I was seated at the side and the staging definitely seemed focused on the central section of seating, so a lot of the visual jokes didn't land for me. it didn't have the plot or heart of Mincemeat, essentially just being a bunch of silly jokes - and the running time is now quoted at 135 minutes, which is rather too long to sustain that level of humour. Didn't get out until 10.15 last night so it actually ran about 150 minutes which is a long show for this type of genre...
Having said that, I laughed a lot, and the cast put a huge amount of effort into it, and the crowd last night obviously loved it (seemed to be a significant number of returnees last night). But I'd have liked to have seen the original, shorter version and seen it from the front, so that I could work out at times what people were laughing at.

Well that was great fun! We were picked as we sat downstairs for the audience participation bit, so my friend was the one! They literally just say 'Are you OK to do some audience participation and are you OK to be on stage at one point?' That was it.
Show was really good, laughed throughout, sometimes cracking up. Very hard working cast, well paced, the semi improv bits are where they really shine. Very talented cast of people, if it appears again, I'll snap up a ticket without a second thought.
