Fabulous to see Jenna doing this.
Less fabulous to see Bronagh directing - I find her very hit and miss.
Glad to see it's creeping it's way ever closer to the West End though!

All seats £29.50 for previews, got my preferred front row stalls for first choice date.
Main run pricing is between £25.00 and £49.50 (front row stalls is premium and £49.50)

Wonderful news, wonderful show, wonderful casting. But I thought the Riverside had recently closed (shortly after re-opening) due to financial troubles?

I love this show but Bronagh Lagan directing ? So it'll be a different production from Chichester? I'm only interested in seeing this for the frocks so maybe I'd better hold off booking until I can read the reviews & check if they still have loads of lovely faux-Dior frocks like in the Chichester production pictures. |

It is indeed different. I caught it in chichester and loved it.
After seeing the directors Rags and Little woman (well half of it, we walked at the interval) I'm hesitant to book.

I loved this at Chichester and love Jenna Russell. Hammersmith is a bit of a trek for me, but hopefully will be worth it.

I saw it tonight and enjoyed it very much. Jenna Russell is excellent, and her scenes with Annie Wensak playing Mrs Harris's neighbour were a particular joy.
The budgetary constraints mean the set is rather cheap looking, although there is a revolve. I'd love to see this given a lavish West End treatment with a larger orchestra (currently six) and perhaps a little more subtlety in some of the supporting performances.
Nevertheless, a strong four stars.

I saw the matinee yesterday with a discounted ticket and this is an excellent production. It's a pleasant theatre and a nice studio, just across from where they were getting ready to record Have I Got News For You.
Note, the first few rows are on the flat floor, then most rows are raked. I didn't choose my seat, but was near the back on an aisle with no one in front, so an excellent view. Further back than I would usually choose, but it's the distance that a lot of theatres would sell as premium.
The matinee was fairly full with mostly an older audience. With that said, I do feel that a venue of this size is perfect for the show. I'm not sure how easily it would attract a West End audience.
My only previous experience was the Chichester recording over lockdown, so I'd forgotten most of the details. There's a certain traditional charm to this, all performed very well. The pace is slow and this runs nearly 3 hours with a 30 minute interval, so I do feel that the interval should be shorter. Some people did have to leave before the end. Worth seeing and I'd give this four stars, but I'm not sure there's enough there to draw me back for a second viewing during this short run.

Is that the normal running time, or were there some apparent issues causing it to overrun on this performance? Shame they are having to discount to early. It looked fairly busy when I was looking the other day. |

Looks like they're using the dress from the previous productions! Or at least Chichester. Hopefully the others dresses are the same — I know everything went into storage from the run in Chichester |
