Have a friend going tomorrow and they asked and I didn't know the answer 😂 Don’t take this as gospel but when I was there following an evening performance, I think I overheard one of the security guys telling one of the people waiting that they’ve done every evening so far, but they rest up after the matinee. No harm in trying though I guess.

Went to the Saturday Matinee, the first act: Visitor From Mamaroneck seemed quite long and drawn out. Broderick’s character in this act has little comic lines and I did think "just get on with it!" I am glad I read this board as I may have left, but as others have posted the final two acts were better.
After the interval: The second act: Visitor from Hollywood, was funny but dated and Broderick did look like he was dressed up as Austin Powers!
The third act: Visitor from Forest Hills, This part was my favorite and I did laugh quite a bit! Watching Broderick’s character Roy go to extraordinary physical and emotional lengths to convince his beloved daughter to leave the locked bathroom to marry is a hoot! They both pull out all the comic stops in this act.
Glad I saw the show as it was awesome to see the two stars and that really is the draw for seeing this production it's not a repeat visit show....especially with some of the ticket prices!
We left via the exit near The Coal Hole and the security guard told the people waiting that there is no signing in-between shows it would only be after the evening shows.

Saw it this afternoon - limps along. Really feels like a money grab, doesn't feel as if there's much energy at all.
Audience applauded plenty at the bows but laughter wasn't exactly frequent from anyone near me in the back of the stalls (one person even left in the pause between Act 2 and 3). It is supposed to be a comedy, I believe..
Running 2hrs 40mins including interval. Longer than I saw promoted. Reckon they could have cut a good 5 minutes of that by not dragging out Act 1's pauses so much.

Just back from this. I only see about 1 play a year and thought it was OK. Act 1 dragged and there were very few laughs. I just kept thinking about how slow room service was for a 5 star hotel. Things picked up for act 2 and 3 which I found a lot funnier. Acting by both was excellent and glad I have seen them on stage. I was expecting a big standing ovation at the end but it didn't happen and the applause was kind but nothing more. Judging by the amount of champagne I saw being drunk around me in the dress circle I don't think there was any issue with some people paying £300 a ticket. They could certainly afford it. Luckily I paid a lot less. So that's my play for the year and I can now concentrate on the musicals.

Here tonight. Interval at the moment
Both leads got entrance applause which I found interesting, usually not a thing here right?
Act 1 was quite boring. The most entertaining part was about 3/4 way through when there was some sort of emergency in the audience. Loud bang like someone falling to the floor, and the show stopped for a while

The most entertaining part was about 3/4 way through when there was some sort of emergency in the audience. Loud bang like someone falling to the floor, and the show stopped for a while Acts 2 and 3 were marginally better, but overall the whole thing is forgettable and boring. Its casting is the only thing going for it, and seemingly the only thing selling seats. So many people tonight “it’s Carrie Bradshaw!” And recording various pieces zooming in on her. On a side note, they seem to have reinstated the extra bar from A Little Life. Entrance is under the stage. Wonder how much you have to pay to get in there? Felt bad for the poor FOH in the interval. I was in the grand circle, and it seemed all the pre orders from the app come from downstairs? So they’re running up and down the stairs carrying the paper bags with people’s stuff. A good number of people in my area didn’t get their orders, either a technical glitch or there’s literally so many the poor FOH can’t cope, so they were told they’d be automatically refunded. Reeks of ATG greed, taking orders they know they don’t have capacity to fulfil

Enjoyed this more than expected; Act 1 is rather slow as is MB's performance but both are warm and rather engaging throughout. It was nice to have a curtain and the set is reassuringly old-fashioned. Yes, unusual entrance applause for both and the odd audience reactions to "Carrie's" line readings very off-putting at times. SJP handled the show-stop very well and seemed genuine at the curtain call. Both performers are rather good. A side note; the Savoy must be one of the worst run West End Theatres. Patrons are not shown (or even indicated) to seats resulting in several issues and the bars are a disaster. The tiny corridor at the rear stalls bar develops into an unbearably claustrophobic crush which surely breaches some H&S rules and the aggressive door staff provide a very poor impression (it was just the same when I saw SB and ALL).

Totally agree - it really is one of my least favourite West End theatres, although I’ve been four times in the past six months thanks to the productions they’ve had running!

As mentioned by bigredapple I also noticed the bar under the stage. Asked one of the FOH staff about it as wondered if it was a VIP area. I was told it was just an extra bar in the orchestra pit as its currently not in use.

It’s such a shame, because the auditorium is gorgeous! The rest of the theatre is a mess, and agree re the door staff. Felt very aggressive, not a nice theatre experience.

Yes it is - I should’ve mentioned that! It’s just all the areas you pass through to get to and from the auditorium are so narrow and small it makes me feel claustrophobic.

It’s a horrible theatre. The FOH areas feel unsafe. What on earth happens if they need to evacuate in an emergency? It would be a disaster. And don’t get me started on the disgusting vineyard theme decorating those areas.

There's not much that can be done with the Savoy, it would have to be gutted and redone which is very unlikely given it's Grade 2 Listed.

It's not that great - tap the walls and it's all painted ply board made to look art deco

I saw this tonight. I didn't really have any interest in it, but I won the lottery for it so a £20 front row seat was too good a chance to pass up.
I'm glad I went along, it was a lot funnier than I thought and both SJP and MB threw themselves into it, with more physical comedy than I imagined they'd have.
The second scene was probably my favourite as they really seemed to let loose with that and go for it.
I went to the stage door after and it as extremely busy - both came out and quickly went along the line. SJP in particular seemed very sweet.
Oh and they ran out of programmes. I managed to get one random one which was hiding, but they're getting more in on Friday. They were handing out blank tickets at the stage door for signing.

I had no desire to see this but having won a lottery that I don't remember entering I'll be in next week. The opportunity to see Ferris Bueller on stage was one I couldn't pass up. 😂

I had few expectations about this but it was exactly what it said on the tin. Very Broadway, dated in the sense that a lot of posh public spaces in New York (or at least, Manhattan) are dated (Plaza, Pierre, dare I say it St Regis, most museums, madison square garden, grand central etc etc). But it was kind of reassuringly expensive, in the way of SJP’s Henri Bendel shopping bag in the first act.
I thought they were both utter pros and worth the price of admission (which was whatever I paid for it when this first went on sale, under £100).

I went yesterday. I loved it. I went in a party of 6, and we all did. We particularly liked SJP’s performance, and found her surprisingly versatile in all 3 very different roles. I went with a musical theatre actress, who said how refreshing it was to see a proper set, and I agree…it was a charming, production. Yes, old fashioned, but I think there is a place for that alongside the modern!

I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting to. Though I'd only paid £20 for my lottery seat in the second row and the lady next to me had paid £150, so it would have had to be truly awful to not feel like I was getting my money's worth!
Beautiful set, wigs and costumes, more weather than I was expecting, and fully committed performances from the stars (very enjoyable up close!).
It's a 3.5 from me, rounded up to a 4 for the poll.
It was absolutely freezing in the theatre though! What's that about?

It was absolutely freezing in the theatre though! What's that about? I found it sweltering when I saw Sunset Boulevard but it was cold last week for this! It doesn’t make sense.

I'm fuming. Yet again we're going to miss an event because of stuck trains. This is getting ridiculous now. It's every week this is happening. An hour's contingency is nowhere near enough anymore.
Is there some way to contact the Savoy Box Office to resell our tickets for tonight's sold-out performance?
