Great news. By the time I got around to seeing this show it was sold out. So now I can see it at an easier to get to theatre.

Good for them, it’s a really lovely show. Can’t think what the Criterion’s like, only been there once when The Comedy About a Bank Robbery opened. Looks small enough that it shouldn’t lose any of the show’s charm in the switch to a bigger venue. Not too badly priced either for West End.

Loved the songs but didn't enjoy the story. I found Dougal to be a really jarring character and the jokes were a little predictable. Great music though can't wait to have a listen through again.

Perfect news! I’m coming to London at the end of the current run (fri/sat), but of course it’s a sold out. Is anybody selling tickets? 🥹 or does anybody know how ot get them on some resell pages or from returns?

They keep a 'Returns List' on the day though, if you turn up 90 mins before show start. I did this at the midweek matinee this week. They took my name at 1pm for the 2.30pm show, and I was the only person there at that point. Once they've taken your name just stay somewhere in the foyer or bar area and they'll call your name if something comes free. |

I'm listening to the "New York" track and I'm both kicking myself that I still haven't gotten around to see that AND happy that I will be able to on the West End at the very least. THAT is a catchy tune!!

I surely can't be the only one who saw this and thought we'd only see it at Christmases in the future? I'm fascinated about the choice to transfer it in the spring.

It's not all that Christmassy, the Richard Curtis element is still supplied by the wedding, if you take Christmas out or leave it in. Christmas crops up repeatedly through 'Rent' after all. If anything the Christmas element in 'Two Strangers' might be more to do with whether people are looking more for warm feelings (and less fussy about plot/character logic) in a show that plays at Christmas; but I suspect in a depressive UK landscape that escapism will still attract at any time of year. |

Quite a long preview period for a show which has already had two runs and a short break between transferring? AND a limited run. It looks to me like they're hoping to quickly extend beyond July provided pre-sales are good.

Late to the party, but what a gift this was. Despite reading the thread, I was still surprised at how witty/funny many of the lines were, but also moving. Sam Tutty brought puppyish charm to Dougal with some similarities in the second half to Evan Hansen with his yearning for a father figure, but his character was much less “damaged” than DEH. Dujonna Gift has such a powerful voice, and she inhabited Robyn’s loneliness in the big city. I even thought the diction was wonderful from both of them: you could hear everything as clearly as the videos on kilntheatre.com/whats-on/two-strangers-carry-a-cake-across-new-york/ . The songs were quite a melange and some were probably a bit forgettable. I don’t think they always need to advance the narrative (to be fair there wasn’t that much storyline), so the Tinder patter song, or call to Dougal’s mother worked well. New York and If I Believed though were great. I enjoyed how modern this was, but tipping a hat to Christmas and other movies. Loved the confidence of both performances and the whole production. 9.5/10. |

They said at the Q&A after the performance that I saw that the show is not, nor was it ever meant to be, a Christmas show- it's just set at Christmas. They actually referenced the argument about the film Die Hard; whilst there are opinions and arguments on both sides, just because the film is set at Christmas, doesn't make it a Christmas musical. To to so would make it a seasonal thing to be resurrected every year, like Elf-The Musical. The fact that its set a Christmas adds to Dougal's wonderment. Without it being set a Christmas, there'd be no ice-skating scene and justifies the costume and lighting designs |

Just booked for 2nd preview. Great preview prices too.
Didn't get to see it at the Kiln so really pleased it's transferring. And really looking forward to seeing it especially after all the positive comments on here.
Lovely lady at the box office told me that it was really busy when it went on sale so really hope it does well.
