In general, where are we preferring to sit for this? Will be my first time in Soho Place. I sat in the stalls so nice and close but I've heard people mention that if you sit higher up you get a better view of the graphics projected into the stage.

I’ve sat in the stalls and up on the first level, and think its a lot better from higher up.

Fabulous. First balcony it is.
And all sides of the round are treated more-or-less equally?

First balcony definitely better!
And yeah they play to all sides really well 😁

I was there this afternoon too!
If I could use just one word to sum it up - Joyous!
Having originally been seduced by the rave reviews of early posters, I went in with some trepidation having read comparisons on here with Dear Evan Hansen (which I loathed) and Come From Away (where I think I was the only person completely unmoved). While I can't remember a single tune, my feet were tapping along frequently and I enjoyed the poppy music. I was drawn in right from the start and laughed and, yes, misted up a few times. Mostly great performances and they all work their socks off. As I said above, it was joyous.
The only thing I'm not keen on is theatre in the round, as I'm very easily distracted by what might be going on in the seats on the other sides of the stage, but that's not the fault of the cast, it's a particular problem I have.
Would I go back? Probably, if a friend wanted me to go, but not again on my own. A good 4 stars though.

I’m just on my journey home from the evening show. Someone upthread described it as joyous, and that’s it exactly. It was the show I didn’t know I needed to see, and I’ll almost certainly be going back!

I saw the evening performance and I thought this was brilliant. Probably one of the best new British musicals I’ve seen in years. The projections on the floor didn’t add a lot for me and the characters of the brothers could have been rounded out a little more, but I very much enjoyed it. I sat in the first row of the stalls and felt a bit awkward to be crying so close to the actors, ha! I certainly hope there’s a future life for this show, it deserves a wider audience.

I saw the show on Friday night, in the front row of the stalls. I liked the cast, especially Ed Larkin, Jonny Amies and Linzi Hateley, and the story is good. But the show felt quite shallow and most of the songs were forgettable.
I think it needed to get bleaker to have somewhere to go by the end. It sort of felt pitched somewhere between CBeebies and CBBC, but they said f*** 20 times, so it can’t have been. The painting felt bolted on towards the end. The NHS tribute felt out of nowhere and the dad’s song felt ripped from Dear Evan Hansen. I love the finale song though.
It felt very cookie cutter and derivative. It hits all the right beats, but it was too saccharine and sanitised to affect me. Like a non-theatre fan’s idea of a musical about a guy in a wheelchair. But it’s well performed and obviously a story worth telling.

What a relief for ALW that he found this show to be a stunning worldwide smash in the making, as he'd already contracted the director to do Starlight Express. Phew! ; )

I mean - maybe he did really love it, BUT.... Sunset and Starlight producer - check! Starlight director - check! #LuvvieBehaviour

Do we think this is going to extend or will it close in November? Any thoughts?

Do we think this is going to extend or will it close in November? Any thoughts? It's not selling especially well and has already been papering, so I'd lean towards closure at the moment. Might yet change if it builds some momentum though.

It's definitely not selling well and papering like mad. I think their marketing is just...bad for this and people cannot really tell from the poster what this is.
It'd be a shame if it did only do 3 months but I can see why based on the money they must be bringing in

It looks like it was knocked up in 5 minutes and tells you nothing about the show.

I disagree. To me it fits the show perfectly..and in a simple way. What do you want from it? Someone in a wheelchair?

There's plenty they could have done to represent the colour, vibrancy, energy and theme. The title and the hint of a brush stroke? Boring! And unfortunately it's clearly not working.

Think about it from the point of view of a tourist, or somebody who likes going to the theatre but doesn't follow it in the same way we do. What does that poster do to interest you in the show? It doesn't detail anything, it doesn't pull in your attention, it gives you no indication of what you are going to be seeing if you go to the show. I don't think it's ugly, but it certainly isn't going to shift many tickets.

You could literally put any words on that poster and it would tell you just about the same amount of information about the show.

The only alternative would be the self portrait that the real Henry Fraser did but I don't think that'd sell the show either.
