This show is a classic case of art mimicking reality for some of the audience.

You’re… you’re joking, right? Serious I expect. I had the same thought. The vocals, orchestration, sound design and score are so thrilling. It would be hard even for people who don’t enjoy Jamie Lloyd visuals to at least not get something from the sound. God I hope we get a cast recording! Not planning to sit there with my eyes shut the whole time, but I do actually close my eyes sometimes for a minute in shows. I want to capture the feeling of that moment so I can recall it in the future. Can still close my eyes and imagine myself at the Palladium hearing the Joseph megamix! And I know I’m weird 🤷♂️

Any word on how high the stage is for this? Thinking that I'll shell out for one performance to get a front stalls seat, but remember a particularly sore neck after seeing Jamie Lloyd's Cyrano (does he have a thing for high stages?) Currently looking at either F or H (5th or 7th row as B is the 1st) but any advice would be much appreciated.

This show is a classic case of art mimicking reality for some of the audience. We get it. You loved it. But is there really any need to keep insulting those who didn't?

The stage floor is level with the eyes of people in stalls row B and about 5m away because of the orchestra pit in-between. Row B offers a very clear uninterrupted view. The space in front of row B acts as a cross aisle.

Quick note on the act two opening. I saw this for the second time last night and noticed subtle differences from people on the street than I did the first preview, so it certainly wasn’t the same “video”. I think the video aspect is live (ish) but I think the vocal is precorded. When I saw it on Thursday there had been heavy rain before the show and the ground was very wet when they filmed that segment which makes me think it was live. Saturday was a dry day so ground should have been dry when filmed. Was that the case?

And with that, let’s remember we are here to discuss the show and not to second-guess other members motivations.
Thousands of people are reading this thread, literally thousands. The quality of feedback so far, both positive and negative, is fantastic and is helping people to decide whether to buy tickets. Let’s keep on that track please.

If you enjoy the show, it means that you will have had a bargain and probably the best seats in the house I think.

I'd go along with this - I was in row E last night and thought row B offered an incredible view of this show. Possibly a little too low for me but an absolute bargain for the lucky £20 ticket holders!

Absolutely, a friend went last night and from the curtain / bows pictures it looks almost perfect with no major obstructions

Do we think this could transfer to another London theatre at the end of the current run with Rachel Tucker assuming the lead full time?

Where are the orchestra? I’m trying to avoid reading reviews on here too closely, so apologies if someone has mentioned it already!
Edit- just seen on insta that they are in the pit

Do we think this could transfer to another London theatre at the end of the current run with Rachel Tucker assuming the lead full time? Just basing it on appropriate available venues - no. Although I guess they could do a limited tour.

did anyone go on Friday (22/9), went last night and there were confetti poppers during the NYE party which I'm sure weren't there at first preview.

Absolutely gutted they cut Lady’s Paying! I feel there needs to be a picket line outside of the theater, voicing our concerns about the ladies paying, and the reprise Beauty is Worth A Little Suffering. I think we should all go out with signs, turbans, and caftans.

Quite surprised they cut 'Eternal Youth....', not that it's great; but I thought the pulling, prodding and almost puppeteering by the beauticians might play well into Jamie Lloyd's style - going for the ungainly and the unadorned/stripped.

Eternal Youth could have been a very pertinent comment on the Reality/InstaHun generation.

Definitive answer from Nathan Amzi (responsible for videography) on Twitter/X regarding the beginning of the second half:
For those asking about #sunsetblvd yes it’s 100% live, video & audio and it’s the result of a herculean effort from all departments. We are living life on the edge, it’s a thrilling achievement and I’m so proud of every single person in our team who make it possible.

To get the video is one thing; but to get such perfect audio - insane!
