Tried to buy an album but all I get is a message that the website is not accepting payments.

It just say alternative packaging not artwork which could mean a number of things. It could be different packaging to house the photos etc that are included in the limited edition vinyl and CD.

Have watched the Olivier performance twice already
Am I crazy to hope this might come back to London after broadway? Do such things ever happen?

Sunset "medley". Thacko "Greatest star of all"; Tom Francis outdoor "Sunset Boulevard"; Nicole "As if we never said goodbye". Well one out of three wasn't bad - and all three appeared in it along with Grace.

W O W That's friggin amazingly awesome. The perfect moments with the stars, ALW cut out - done seemingly effortlessly and flawlessly. These musical moments in awards shows are rarely that exciting (even Glenn in the 1995 Tony Awards singing on stage at the Minskoff didn't have this excitement, mostly because they made them cut AIWNSG and sped it up)

7 WINS - WOW - Considering the original received none, what a incredible turn-around... So happy for the entire creative team, but especially ALW that this masterpiece finally got the critical appreciation and acclaim it deserved all along!

Don’t think (someone correct me?!) an ALW musical has ever won that many awards at a single ceremony. Jamie Lloyd is an absolute genius IMHO for the way he presented this masterpiece.

If I remember correctly, I believe Phantom and Cats both won seven Tonys in their respective years.

So deserved. Am so sad I only got to see it once but also feel extremely lucky and fortunate I had that pleasure. Do you think there is a chance it might have another West End run after Broadway?

Of course it will return to the West End - it’s a huge smash hit of a show that has basically won every award.
I’m sure it will go on to do a US tour, open in Germany, eventually get a UK tour and the producers will milk this success for years with an open ended run, it will make a LOT of money.
I can see this back in the West End 2025 at a different theatre for a very long run. The QUESTION IS - who could play Norma and what A lister younger stars (40-50) could they lure to do it?
Sunset needs a name and always has. Plus it couldn’t go cheap or in my opinion musical theatre names, for its success it would need to stay BIG with casting. Or am I just dreaming?

Sunset needs a name and always has. Plus it couldn’t go cheap or in my opinion musical theatre names, for its success it would need to stay BIG with casting. Or am I just dreaming? Beverley Knight would have the skills; though perhaps not the mystique as she's been so available to audiences in a range of shows. I'd see it again with her. I'm not sure it would tour easily - I imagine the tech kit is quite vulnerable, and keeping it in balance is only possible in situ. I may be over-influenced by a 15 min wait for it to start (very awkward with Young Norma standing there throughout), and then a show stop just after 'With One Look'. Someone else reported a show stop in that exact same place on a different day. I did wonder if they were experimenting with another layer of 'meta', but it put the audience on edge; everything felt a bit like it was falling apart (or amateur) which made it hard to fully commit to. It was a crushing disappointment not to enjoy it more. I also thought Jamie Lloyd's scheme was poorly worked out, and it barely broke the fourth wall (other than the title song). When you've got a character singng "now I had a date at Paramount, along with about a thousand other writers" , and the Savoy has a capacity of 1,158, there are opportunities to implicate the audience at the earliest point. I still wonder what new audience thought Joe meant by referring to "Max and that organ" lol. So I'm completely out of kilter with most comments here, and the award panels. I do wonder with the blackout and blood if this will be as successful on Broadway as it's assumed it will be. Won't Broadway be protective of the radical 'Oklahahoma!' and say 'hang on, that's a direct copy of a very recent musical? SB getting a bit of what Opening Night has suffered from in comparison. On a more positive note (next post)....
