Did a thread about this seconds ago and then realized it’s the same as here, so I deleted it.
Anyway, it’s good to have Simon Stone back doing Shakespeare with Ralph Fiennes!! Plus Indira Varma’s always great to watch.
Since it’s going to stop by at London next year, I sense from the poster’s vibes that this will be at the Pinter.
(Ralph must be thirsty for an Olivier nomination LOL, haha, seriously, why on earth was he snubbed for Best Actor for Antony & Cleopatra, despite winning major stage awards then?? What’s worse is that Ralph was never nominated for the award. And should Dear England be a hit, he’ll be vying for an Olivier against his own brother Joseph…hmmm)

Since it’s going to stop by at London next year, I sense from the poster’s vibes that this will be at the Pinter. It’s directed by Simon Godwin not Simon Stone, which personally I find more exciting! And it won’t be at the Pinter, it’s being performed in warehouse spaces in each city, with site-specific staging. |

Apologies!! Ugh!! They look different but their names are similar!! If this was a Stone production, he’ll rewrite everything and change their names (like Phaedra became Helen recently).
Maybe @sohoplace could accommodate this production. Indira and Ralph watched Medea recently on separate occasions (based on Instagram stories and comments/Tumblr posts by fans). If not, maybe some open field convertible to a warehouse somewhere in London.

What motivates him in his stage work doesn't seem to be acclaim. To me he is the last of the great Shakespeare actors (along with Simon RB) whose sole motivation is to play all of the great Shakespeare leading roles. He's played most of them, even ones like Antony that many great actors have avoided (Scofield & McKellen to name only two). Macbeth is one of the few remaining. King Lear later. |

Leontes is a good call, I don't think he's too old, actors approaching 60 have played it, Greg Hicks must have been near that. One thing Fiennes does, and McKellen did at his height, is to choose the best/highest-profile current Shakespeare directors for their Shakespeare work. Hence Godwin. It really is unforgivable that Godwin achieved his Shakespeare breakthrough at the RSC (with Two Gentlemen of Verona) and then they just let him drift away first to the NT as their go-to director for Shakespeare and then to run a Shakespeare company in USA. Look at how much buzz there is around this production and how little around the forthcoming RSC Macbeth. |

Very intrigued by this production, but will have to know more about the locations before booking. Not too keen to be traipsing around the deserted industrial areas of Liverpool on a cold, dark winter’s night.

It cultivates a very toxic mindset. Given the amount of theatre Fiennes does and that he's taking it to cities without major awards associated with them should be proof enough of what his intentions are. |

Or standing around on a cold, hard warehouse floor as they perform in the round on a raised platform (a la the Bridge Theatre), although they will hopefully also have seating as does the Bridge. |

Printworks would be a terrible place to put on a play, it’s far too narrow.
