If they’ve got any sense, they’ll cover one of the Met Line trains in Starlight branding. (Maybe Jubilee too, but Met Line is only two stops from Baker Street.)

As well as requiring multiple standbys and understudies for every role, there was also an offstage chorus of singers in the original production covering all the non solo stuff because the skaters were too knackered to sing it well. One of my friends did it for a year cos it was easy money, though singing stuff like "freight is great" over and over drove her nuts. I have fond memories of seeing Stephanie Lawrence, Frankie Ruffelle, PP Arnold, Michael Staniforth, Tom Jobe, Ray Shell and others in the original cast (many sadly no longer with us), but I doubt their original charm and energy could ever be replicated.

Also, this is being co produced by Michael Harrison - I can't imagine this will be particularly lavish.
Don't expect the AV set - it ain't gonna be that

Don’t know if casting suggestions for Momma have started yet- as I need to catch up on the chat. But Anna Jane Casey! Oh and a dream version of Momma is Nicola Hughes.

I assume it’ll be Reva Rice.
Hope they do something big for the fortieth!

really hope I’m proven wrong, but I cannot see this ending well. Like the recent Aspects revival, I can’t imagine SE will get much business from those who saw it first time round, and I just can’t see it striking a chord with kids and families in 2023. It’s also bound to get a drubbing from critics, whichever songs make the cut. I will however be making the trip to see it- I’ll wait for today tix offers which I am sure will be plentiful!

This show will sell out. Curious newbies and nostalgia freaks will lap it up. It's a 1000+ seat house in Wembley - this isn't going to sell out. It'll sell well, but it isn't going to sell out. Let's wait and see on that... I think this show will sell out.

It will sell well...it won't sell out (unless it's on a 12 week limited run which seems madness)...literally nothing does anymore...but sure

Looks like I have another show to add to my "To Watch" list! Honestly, the Troubadour seems like the perfect venue for 'Starlight'. I saw 'Newsies' there and I have always thought that it would be the ideal place for a revival of this show. As for if it will sell out or not, only time will tell. I hope it has a successful engagement and for it to do just as well as 'Newsies' did.

I think it's very optimistic to slate this to sell out, or even sell well, if only because of the theatre. It's an excellent venue and I'd love for it to host successful productions, but the long haul out to Wembley is a hard sell to many.
That said, I'll probably make a trip (pending the prices), maybe waiting to see if it does sell or whether it goes the way of Newsies with the heavy discounts. Even as somebody who is not partial to ALW productions on the whole, this is an iconic production and one that I have to go see, even if not for the material itself.

Is it reimagined, interactive and fully immersive?

Is it reimagined, interactive and fully immersive? Ideally it’s a black and white, barefoot, no set, concert version. Where do I pay my £175?

Starlight Express to Wembley Troubadour 2024 I looked for a thread on this or Starlight, nothing here. The theatre is perfect for Starlight, but do they want it. The expectation I think would be for an open ended run. Good call OP and others who speculated about this in the Newsies thread way back in April!

This news has absolutely thrilled me today- will book multiple visits I’m sure. My youngest have been desperate to see this since they fell down a Starlight You Tube rabbit hole last year.

Excited by this announcement. Although I haven't seen it before, I feel like Starlight Express is a musical I'd really enjoy and The Troubadour is my local theatre, so I'm sure I'll end up paying a visit sometime. I'll keep an eye out for Rush tickets or other discounts though rather rushing to buy a full priced ticket.

Sadly, during the 'Cinderella' fallout Anna Jane Casey was moved to add via tweet that ALW had shown her no interest/respect when she auditioned for him once, and that he was drunk. I can't see them ever working together.

Is it reimagined, interactive and fully immersive? Wasn’t the new phantom billed as immersive and interactive? It’s not. Plus Starlight has to a point always been interactive and immersive!
