One area where this production has definitely moved with the times, and is perfectly aligned with the modern world, is its message that if you want to be popular/succeed then you should completely transform yourself. Inner belief just don’t cut it anymore - get out there and get someone to convert you! Lol. Or possibly not lol! Did see someone on FB say that connecting to Hydra’s tank was basically cheating and akin to taking steroids in the gym! As a steroid user who doesn't do gyms, I am happy to challenge this misconception. 😂

It's hard work and 75% of getting bigger is diet and eating 5 protein filled meals a day. Chicken, rice and broccoli gets dull very, very quickly...
Apparently. So I heard....

England game kicks off at 5pm on Sunday... Wonder if that'll affect their numbers... Based on my time working in theatres, it will simply vastly increase the number of men on their phones during the show, watching the game or checking the score

Just watched a video of the finale/mega mix on YouTube and I only recognised the last song. So either my memory has gone to pot (probably) or there are lots of new tunes.

Although only a handful of seats left for today's 2 performances, what is left is all being sold at £29.50 even seats together. And tomorrow they are all £45 and £29.50. Some great dynamic pricing.

Really pleased to see such great dynamic pricing here. There was loads of availability for today yesterday and both shows are almost sold out now. Definitely a strategy that makes sense to me for building hype and word of mouth early in a run! (And offset by fact I guess that advance prices have dynamically gone up not inconsiderably). Starting nights tonight or I'd go lol......

There are more available today, as they moved a lot of the spares over to TodayTix Rush (where they're still available) - and there may well be other agencies with allocations. But yes, glad to see this is selling well.

I’ve got a matinee ticket for this today that I now cannot make. If anyone wants it for free, I’ll send it over to you. I’ll also post on the notice board.

Well I thought this was absolutely stunning, by far the most technical show I have seen in a long time. You can see where the money has gone and worth every penny. I am due to see it in a couple of weeks time but one of those £29.50 single seats came up for today's matinee so grabbed the chance and what a bargain it was. 1st Class carriage row BB so right in the thick of it. For such a technical show I am amazed how smoothly it ran and I couldn't see anything go wrong. The cast were really good, and really young! Very talented and in great voice. Loved the costumes and the set and thought it was really immersive from wherever you sit. Lighting, including lasers and flames, were stunning (it was like being at the Eurovision Song Contest). As for the seating, the first class carriage was fantastic. I was end of row and could even feel the wind as they skated past. From what I could see carriage 1 (where I was) and carriage 4 had tiered seats but 2 and 3 was on the level. But as you are lower than the stage then don't think this would be an issue at all. Next time I am sitting a bit further back on the platform so will be nice to have a different view and position. There has been mention of the skating being slow but, for me, I thought it was pretty fast and the 2 guys on the scooters were outstanding. The story is very cheesy but who cares, its just great fun to watch. The audience this afternoon was about 70% my age group so I think most were there for the nostalga but this would also be an absolute treat for the kids and there is no let up in the energy throughout. Just to note they have run out of programmes and fridge magnets (the 2 things I wanted) but I hope by the time I go again they will have both back in stock. Also did anyone have issues with the disco balls in the foyer before the show? I found that the patterns the balls were making on the floor made it a bit difficult for me to walk and i felt a bit off balance when looking down. Finally I think you would have to be a bl**dy boring person not to like this and not to come out smiling.

Lasers and flashing lights are complicated now?

I didn’t think it was at all- bar some good lighting effects. Genuinely interested.

That lighting effect where the beam follows the letters of ‘Starlight Express’ around is quite engaging? Otherwise it’s pretty standard, but well done.

I really see no need for the snide comments on here. If a person was moved or impressed by a show, effects, sound etc, that is their prerogative. I doubt anybody thought they were going to see such complex laser designs (which are still being tweaked) or really impressive sound design in such a big metal box as the Troubadour.
Love it or loathe it, can we not just agree that ALW and Co have at least TRIED to do something different and have committed wholeheartedly to a refreshing new production?

As I said - my comment/question wasn’t meant as snide or patronising. I’m fascinated at how people can see things so differently and interested what technical aspects so impressed Alec
