This is going to provide a lot of fresh content for the 'audience behaviour' thread.

This is my era of music, massive nostalgia so should be up my street. But this looks awful

I don't want to be the person coming on to say how awful something new looks without giving it a chance. But something just died in me watching that trailer.

Pete Waterman on BBC Breakfast saying they want people standing up and singing along, indeed it will be a failure if that doesn't happen.... 😲

Strong cast! I could watch Jess Daley sing the phone book…Mel Jacques, Gio Spano…this is getting more interesting by the minute.

I did laugh at the Turkey / Torquay joke. However I shall be busy ramming pencils in my eyes and so can't make a single performance of it. Gutted.

I definitely won’t be booking, but this looks so hideously awful that I kinda do want to see it.

I definitely won’t be booking, but this looks so hideously awful that I kinda do want to see it. That's exactly why I've booked for the Alex in Brum, and £26.50 for front row (with opening night member discount) seemed a good deal.

Really good cast, worth it just to see them perform, and I expect a whole lot of cheese in the plot.

This should do well I would think as with a soundtrack like the SAW catalogue you have so much material. For those wanting just a feelgood night out with great music( 80's my favourite era ) it will fill a gap. Tastes have changed and some people just want an uplifting night out where you can forget your problems and understand what is happening with songs you know. There is room for all types of entertainment and if it can fill a venue then all for the good in my opinion.

I agree, I love Mamma Mia and I love SAW music, but I hope the trailer isn't an indication of the shows quality.

Can't believe nobody's talked about this since mid July. No rehearsal pics, clips, teasers etc etc being thrown around! Not much buzz!
Anyway SAW was very much the soundtrack to my closeted gay childhood. In fact Kylie Minogue's The Locomotion was the very first 7inch single I bought. (From Woolworth's. Obvs)
Intrigued as to what this will be like. I mean the back catalogue is immense. But the one week sit downs in every UK regional theatre going does make me think it's gonna be cheap cheap cheap.
Hopefully there tonight if Storm Ciaran allows me to make the trek from Brighton to Manchesterford.
The last two musicals I saw at The Opera House were Bat Out Of Hell and The Cher Show, both of which had the two worst audiences I have ever experienced in my entire life. Have no doubt that this show will degenerate into a similar affair but absolutely praying that the first couple of shows might have some more theatre fans in and less of the ProsecHuns night out brigade. (For balance Jesus Christ Superstar at The Palace was fine).

Likewise, SAW and especially Kylie and Jason, were my era. But I just can't get excited for this. I'd rather just rewatch the music videos on YouTube.
Curious to hear word of mouth as to whether its better than the marketing so far suggests

Ahh I was at uni in Manchester then worked there for a few years. Have friends there and love the City and it's any excuse to visit. It's generally my go to for regional theatre as combine it with other stuff on a weekend away. But yes from Brighton, on the two worst train companies in the country (Southern and Avanti) it is an absolute mission. Plus I was interested enough in this to want to do the first weekend!

Will be there tonight. Not particularly excited about it, predicting bad behaviour as mentioned above. But maybe will be another &Juliet and I'll be eating my words.
