Intrigued by this after the mention on EPOS at the weekend. Cracking cast - Madalena Alberto, Molly Lynch, Tim Rogers etc. Anyone going this weekend? Report back if so - especially on the subject of feline bloodshed, or not.

Interested to hear what this is like from anyone going to a preview.
Considering seeing it next week but not a lot of info or reaction out there from this weekend so hard to gauge.

Schrödinger: The Musical?
I agree there's very little information about, it just seems to be same wording everywhere.

I went on Friday. Bit of a mixed bag for me really. The performances were great, there were some nice songs, but found the story-line a bit pretentious at times. {Spoiler - click to view} Effectively, the main character Maggie is a Richard Dawkins-esque figure who has written a controvertial book and is sick of answering questions about it. She tries to escape to Italy where she meets Luke, there's just one problem, he's religious. The two are very set in their ways, so can they overcome this to be together. There are also two college students along for the ride, but they don't really have much of a story of their own.

From the few clips shared on social media, the songs seemed decent enough in isolation but wasn’t sure if it would get a bit dreary if consistently in that style…

I didn't find that it dragged on music wise, it was more the storyline that was a bit thin for me. I'm glad I saw, it, but I wouldn't rush back.

I actually went at the weekend, too. Agreed - the performances were great and there's some nice songs. It'll improve in terms of pace and drama - it was only the second preview, after all. In terms of 'very little information about'. Agreed. They have been pushing out some messaging in recent days saying "The music is as if Adam Guettel (Light in the Piazza) and Tom Waits had a baby.” which is reasonably accurate IMO. But, Sam, your plot summary is, indeed, what it's about - it's not a spoiler! Scientist goes to Italy and has her scientific convictions shaken by man of God and girl with voices in her head. Will be interesting to see how it's received, reviews-wise.

Roughly how long is this? Still says TBC on the website. I want to do a 2 show day next Saturday with this in the evening but it's then about an hour and a half trip home so I don't want to do that if I'll be getting out of it very late.

I caught the matinée yesterday and got out at 16:30 if that helps? Enjoyed this, particularly good voices on offer. The story feels a little unfinished? Like it could do with some edits or tightening up. Well worth a visit though.

I caught the matinee yesterday and thought this was a much better show than the majority of reviews suggest. It's a gentle and intelligent musical, so rather different than most. There is little to the staging, but there is an excellent cast and an excellent band.
The ending is a bit abrupt, but I guess that fits in with the whole theme of religion versus science. I certainly have a view on that one, as I expect will most people who are watching, and this isn't a musical designed to change the opinion of anyone.
Personally, I think this could be a very good 90 minute one act musical, rather than trying to stretch it and add an interval. Not sure if it will play well in NYC though. The US is a country with much stronger views on the religious debate than are typically expressed in the UK.
