Musical DVDs and CDs

I'm moving this summer and this weekend have begun having a sought through stuff. It has occurred to me that I have shifted stuff from one home to another that I simply just do not use. Included in this are a whole load of DVDs and CDs. I have been on a certain app that gives you money for them all of which seems very convenient though the prices that they offer are sporadic.
Though more than happy to get rid of most things I'm in a slight conundrum about what to do with the soundtrack and DVDs I have of musicals. I am reluctant to let them go especially at the price that they are offering but also feel that I never watch or listen to them in their original form thanks to iTunes, Spotify etc...
I don't really have anything that rare but was just wondering what you fellow musical lovers would consider doing?
Do they make the treck to another home to collect dust and go unwatched/listened too.
Also got my programme collection to consider but that's a whole other story and really not sure I can part with that!
Any thoughts/suggestions? Should I just bite the bullet and get rid?

I would have said try selling them on Amazon but given the hoohah about them not paying UK taxes, they've started asking for VAT numbers etc. for people wanting to sell stuff through them and frankly it's not worth the bother if you're not going to be selling a shed load of stuff through them. Have you had a look to see if you have anything worth real money and tried selling it on Ebay?

I've used the app I think you're talking about (music magpie?) and the good thing about it is the convenience. Scanning the bar code using your phone camera, getting a price then bunging the whole lot in a box and having them collected by a courier is fantastically easy. 

However, you do only get pennies for them and even the price offered at the scan stage can get reduced when they receive the items and check them. I suspect no-one gets the original price offered. 

For me it was marginally better than giving them away for nothing. eBay was out of the question, I haven't got time or inclination to list, package and post every single CD and I don't think the money I'd have got even if they had all sold would have been much more because my stuff wasn't rare and eBay take their cut. 

I did did keep back a handful of CDs that I have an attachment to but it was good to clear out the space. I don't think holding on to stuff you neither need or really want is good so whatever way you choose carry on and clear out that clutter!
