Picked up a flyer for this while at Allegiance and surprised to see it's already listing run time of 2.15. no mention of interval but presume there is one, the website also shows the 2.15 time. While I know it's an existing show several members have already said it will need restage for the smaller theatre so surprised they are being so definite about times so early on. Think even the straight staged version of it was longer than 2.15. Looking forward to seeing it, as however it does play the original book remains a masterpiece of storytelling Surprised at this, as it's currently running at 2h 40m in Vienna!! There's scope for some trimming, but not sure you can hack nearly 30 minutes out!

I hope they get Willemijn to play Danvers, but I’m not sure how likely that will be. I saw the production in Vienna and Willemijn sang the role very powerfully. I just question why she would want to complete a long run in a ‘fully-fledged’ production and then move on to a scaled-down production with, presumably, a significantly scaled-down fee? Crossing my fingers for her (as I have tickets), but not too optimistic it will actually happen.
Same. Purely by chance I happened to catch her in Vienna last September. She was head and shoulders above the rest of the cast

Looking forward to seeing it, as however it does play the original book remains a masterpiece of storytelling I've noticed that there is some inconsistency whether advertised running times include the interval. This is outside the West End though. Recently at a provincial theatre there was a sign reading something like " Running time is 2 hours 20 minutes with a 20 minute interval" To my mind the word "with" is ambiguous in this context - does it mean including or plus the 20 minute break ? In that case a slightly delayed 2.30 start, a 25 minute interval, and a 5.15 finish was the reality. Accurate information is important for people like me catching a train / bus after the show and for car drivers not getting a parking ticket !

I've inside knowledge that this is selling very well! I just did a search of some dates and there’s hardly anything sold for them. I am just sharing what I was told. :-)

So willemijn just announced on Instagram that she'll be leaving the Vienna production on 24 June 🧐 Planned for a while - not related. Well, it means she likely has something planned. The production was due to close, but instead extended. Most of the cast are staying on. They're going to 100% someone who is a bit of a "name", especially since it seems to be selling badly.

Just walked by The Charing Cross Theatre/Players .... they seem to be auditioning for the show? there is a panel and a keyboard set up.
Have they still not found a cast? cutting it fine are they not?
I was really expecting this to be exceptional after what they did with Titanic and Woman in White. I was planning on bringing my daughter with me as she enjoyed the novel and I LOVE the recording from the Vienna production.
Why are they still looking for actors? Are people pulling out?

It doesn’t open until September! I mean they would probably be starting rehearsals in six or so weeks no?

It doesn’t open until September! I mean they would probably be starting rehearsals in six or so weeks no? I’d be surprised if a show in a venue like this had eight weeks of rehearsals. But they have plenty of time to cast, and imagine Mrs Danvers was an offer rather than audition.

Danvers 100% an offer. This will have a max of 5 weeks rehearsal so at the very earliest end of July

They are going to go semi-stunt for Danvers and Maxim, aren't they? If they're going to make it through the run, they're going to have to - ticket sales aren't great.
Still think it's going to be Verkaik - other than 2 Christmas shows in Amsterdam on 23rd and 24th December, she's free. She didn't extend her Rebecca contract despite it being extended, meaning she has something unannounced in the works.

A friend of mine (holiday cover musician in the west end) has been told that the Musician's Union aren't very happy with the pay being offered something about it not being what they are supposed to pay people?! he says they have been in contact with the theatre!
has anyone else heard anything or know anyone involved?

Well this is a house production and they are notoriously poor at paying people so assume it’s the same as always but only more notable due to the size of the orchestra A friend of mine (holiday cover musician in the west end) has been told that the Musician's Union aren't very happy with the pay being offered something about it not being what they are supposed to pay people?! he says they have been in contact with the theatre! has anyone else heard anything or know anyone involved?

Ticket sales seem to have picked up slightly... still not casting news, however. Any rumours?

It is surprisingly quiet on the casting front. In this day of social media being a primary ticket driver, you would surely want to start building the hype/excitement?

I called the theatre this morning to ask about tickets and also asked when casting would be announced. I was told she wasn’t sure since they’re still working to cast the show - so…who knows when we’ll find out.

I do love when people call the box office expecting them to either know anything about the casting, or tell you even if they did know - A for effort.

I’m not exactly a “newbie” to anything theater related. I had to call to ask a question about my order and since i had her on the phone I thought I’d ask. The point of my post was that they’re still casting - so she did provide a bit of news. Sorry if my post bothered you.

Oh that wasn't meant to be sarky - having worked on a Box Office I just always find it funny when people think Box Office get told anything to do with anything...
