Does Kara Lane do matinees? There seemed to be some uncertainty earlier in the thread.

Caught this for the second time last night. Half price on a Today Tix deal. Was sold out though how much was papered I have no idea.
I really like it! The music is stunning, some absolutely huge romantic sweeping melodies (not unlike an ALW score really) and I think the three leads are sensational. The large orchestra sounds fantastic. I so so hope there will be a cast recording (am sure there won't be). Much as I love my Vienna and Stuttgart CDs would be great to have it in English.
It does remain a shame that the set is so ugly. It's actually by Charing X standards quite a big set. But it just looks, well, ugly! I think less might have been more, perhaps with more use of projection.
Am sorry it has got such a poor average star rating on here as I do think, other than the set, they've done a good job. (Also people were very forgiving of the Woman in White set which really was not dissimilar!)
My belief that it's a camp classic remains!
Will it have a future UK life? Sadly I very much doubt it. I think it's main problem is not the production, rather the fact that lush romantic sung through musicals, bar a few exceptions are just not fashionable/what the GBP currently want. Which is a shame as I love them!

Think it’s small enough that it doesn’t make much difference but personally I think the best view is the rear half of the front section!

Front third of the back section is probably good too as you won't miss the actors crossing that walkway or the ones that pop out in the balconies

Going twice more before it finishes so looking forward to it.

Thank you have seats in front half of back section , just couple rows back, so hopefully will be good from there as will be able to see the actors cross the theatre, which I missed before. Going twice more before it finishes.

Saw Rebecca again and say in different area of theatre this time. Brilliant again ! Loved sitting further back as could see all the cast coming in in different parts of the show. Had understudy Ben , really was a fabulous performance from him. Will be sad to see this run end.

Just to say I saw the production three weeks ago, read during previews what was posted here and then stopped.
This production was exactly what I would expect from the Charing Cross Theatre and is not that different from the often mentioned, much loved Woman in White-production a few years ago.
I still think using the full orchestra was a mistake moneywise, but maybe it was part of getting the rights, who knows. Shame to hide it backstage, but the sound mix was excellent.
Performances were solid.
Some people have seriously to re-evaluate their expectations.

Going for the 4th time on closing night - what I also imagine will be the final English language performance.
Although ticket sales did pick up. Hopefully we get a cast album.

I always take each show as it is and don't compare as I believe each show deserves to be watched on its own merits. I love the music, the orchestra , the cast and just the show in general, the theatre fitted the show well I feel.. Each person has a view on what they like and don't like but that is just that person's opinions so again I like to make my own mind up . I hope to see this back at some point.

Tonight was wonderful. Kara Lane is out of this world. Outrageously good. The matinee was also wonderful. The cast were superb and deserve this to return. The orchestra were sublime too. Please please let's have a cast recording .

Surely an English language cast recording for this particular show is out of the question until its translations are vastly improved.
Also, if it was to come back, I think by now they will realise they need to start from scratch in terms of the adaptation.
I never thought it was as bad as some in here did but the idea of a return seems far-fetched without an overhaul in so many aspects of the show.

Easily one of the best sounding shows I have attended, from the sweep of the orchestra combined with wonderful clear diction and vocals from all the cast. Lauren Jones and Kara Lane voices just soared on their solos and were superb together in the duets. Richard Carson and Piers Bate were also standouts.
It did a good job keeping to the story and a better production of the classic tale than the recent netflix film.
As the first time of hearing the score I could actually hum some of the themes and tunes afterwards and cannot remember the last time that happened.
Not perfect but found it a watchable and enjoyable show, and a great comfortable seat with leg room and clear view for less than most west end theatres are changing for a upper circle, restricted, cramped seat.

Also, if it was to come back, I think by now they will realise they need to start from scratch in terms of the adaptation. I never thought it was as bad as some in here did but the idea of a return seems far-fetched without an overhaul in so many aspects of the show. I was sat behind Christopher Hampton last night. He seemed pleased. To be honest, I actually don't think the lyrics are too bad. Sure, there are some really awful bits (kein lächeln war je so kalt (I don't know the name of the song in the English version!), for example) and some really REALLY awful bits - "Mrs de Winter bought it at the auction house" and "How can the curtain go up when there is no play?" spring to mind - WHY IS THE METAPHOR COMPARING REBECCA TO A PLAY AND NOT A STAR? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!), but my main problem with the translation is that the original demo album was by far superior in terms of the English lyrics. Kein Lacheln is horrendous in comparison comparison to the demo. "I'll never forget her smile, her haunting, taunting smile. I may forget the things she said but I will never forget that smile" to "I'll never forget that smile. It made me lose control. I might forget the way she looked but I'll never forget her smile". It literally doesn't fit into the music. Kein Lacheln: Actually, I think the only song from the English demo that they improved on was She's Invincible (and even then, there are only minor changes) The main reason I want a cast album is Kara Lane. I honestly can't explain how wonderful she is. She's a star.

I believe they are going to try and get the UK version on a tour! Just something I heard whilst I was at the theatre, but that would be awesome wouldn't it!

Will be sad to see this run end. yes sitting further back, mean't you got to see the gangway where more actors come in, and you got to see the actors on the balconies too. I have seen another show at Charing Cross and it seems to be the thing they do, to use the space. I like it, it really brought the show together in the small theatre. I actually sat a few times up on the balcony, which was cool, and really close up which was really intense in a good way, and mostly sat at the back. I love how the show felt different depending on where you sat.

Any update on the cast album?
I'm assuming it's dead - the cast were hopeful following its closure, but it's been quiet since...

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this, but there's a slime tutorial of the opening scene and the title song that's now available thanks to aurora spiderwoman
