Newsies, Wembly, travel? and take in another show?

I read about Newsies thoughts on this forum. A lot of info.  

Coming from outside England, on a budget, means literally a 2 night stay in..Wembly i guess, ideally seeing Newsies twice. 

Would anyone be able to inform me, going from Gatwick airport>train>tube..have to figure it out...but Is it possible/worth doing/to see this musical and also another one..say..Wicked? going back/forth within 2 days.

Odd question perhaps, just I dont know London, my daughter loves Newsies and thought , view that and make worthwhile seeing another show.

Any advice?


And newsies seats..Brooklyn? a few price ranges , hard to see whats the better view i can get...stick to Brooklyn around the middle be ok?

Not really, but it’s only a short tube ride into the West End and you’d have plenty time between shows to travel.

Thanks Mark.  A short tube into WestEnd. New to London, literally, looking on google earth/maps! and then the factoring in of train strikes etc etc

I thought it was the Jubilee line, and well over an hour? no?  But thats great then your saying, worth getting saying, Wicked tickets and also Newsies.

Any thoughts on a musical, for daughter, loves Newsies..another musicial westend that suits? hence thinking Wicked?

garjobo I appreciate that you may be new to London but I'm on the Jubilee line and (trust me) it doesn't take an hour to the West End! From Finchley Road to the O2 is only 25 minutes!

I saw “Best of Enemies” yesterday afternoon, had something to eat and then got on the tube at Leicester Square, transfered at Green Park to the Jubilee and was at Wembley in 20 mins with still a lot of time to spare before going inside. So you won’t have any problems at all (baring train strikes/delays) getting to Wembley from “Wicked”.

As others have said nothing much near Wembley. Even quicker if you take the Metropolitan line from Wembley and its about 12 minutes to Baker Street.
I'd recommend Frozen for a festive treat but I'm biased as I love the show.
As for seats at Newsies it's quite immersive so pretty good wherever you sit. It really depends on your budget.
I sat yesterday in Richmond and had a great view.

THis is positive news, thanks Anthony and Matt, Best of Enemies, will take a lookup. " .and Juliet " or Back to the Future musical! Seem to be the choices to view alongside Newsies. So will take another look and work out times/lines...no tube strikes incoming is there!!

Thanks Alece, great that you enjoyed the show, from Richmond. Thanks for the Metro.Line then not Jubliee. &Juliet is still on the cards, but yes, personally prefer Frozen.

If you're heading to Frozen it might be worth checking out Disneys Magical Mondays. Really great price for whats usually premium seats in the theatre. Try loading CityMapper on your phone, it was a godsend when I was in NYC and I use it in London to work out buses/tubes etc.

Agreed with the comment above. Citymapper is a godsend. From giving you different routes to giving to arrival times. To telling you where to get on the tube for a quick exit and best exit out of the station.

I’ll be sitting in Richmond on Christmas Eve. We’re coming over from Richmond County New York, so it was the obvious seating choice. Eating choices near the theatre is limited and the main food court on my last visit was unavailable as it was packed with post game patrons.

The theatre does have a restaurant and you can get a pre theatre set meal there. Also 2 food stands in the theatre forecourt. And if desperate, a McDonalds next door.

I went to wimpy for a bit of nostalgia. I recommend against that option. Great service but the food was not good!

When are you thinking of visiting, so the community can tailor its advice for your dates? You will have at least 14 days' notice of any future strike action.

Metropolitan line is faster than the Jubilee line in general, as others have said, you have plenty of time to travel between Wicked and Wembley.Train strikes won't affect your journey to Wembley, if you want to be sure you can check tfl.gov.uk/campaign/strikes for planned action or tfl.gov.uk/tube-dlr-overground/status/ for service updates on the day.

Thank you all for your replies, clearly a popular forum, i have let my daughter know about it as loves musicals and WILL be on broadway oneday  - she has assured me!! yes..i have tried to bring her back to Earth!
 Great to hear &Juliet then in your replies, and thanks for the citymapper advice and theres a Wimpy! terrific.

Looking at going around 16th - so, literally all last minute ( daughter was viewing Newsies clips so thought just do it ), flights from ireland sadly are not the cheapest, other than that good to go.

Ok re seats..hard to tell then really. Thanks once again for your replies to this.

Sadly not, it around week of 19th, confirmed with daughter..i think Newsies is not on, on the 19th. But, that week..week after xmas is even more expensive regarding flights.

There's an Itsu as well which I went to > lots of charging points too for phones.

For those looking for places to eat nearby - about 10 mins walk away near the Designer outlets there are several restaurants including Nandos, TGI’s, Wagamamas etc. just head past Wembley Arena towards the shops.

I stayed at the Premier Inn Wembley Stadium now because it would mean a short walk back after Newsies (although a longer slog back from the West End at other evenings...). The Designer Outlet next door really does have all the usual suspects like Pret, Costa, Nandos, Wagamama and so on.

A local friend took me to Wimpy (which I had last "encountered" around 30 years ago during my very first trip to England...!) and I thought the food was excellent - definitely much better than anything McDonalds next door would rustle up and the service was lovely. So would definitely recommend it as an alternative to McD or generally the ubiquitous chains. It was very empty that evening, though apparently that was because England was playing at the football world cup at the time.

I also recommend the Metropolitan line that rushes through from Wembley to Baker Street, then change there for the Bakerloo Line and Piccadiily Circus for the West End. What was killing this old lady was the LONG stair case up to Wembley Park Tube Station
