No-one has yet commented on this at the Cockpit, perhaps I can think why not. It's clearly a pet project of Almog Pail who created and is credited with the book but I feel it should have been handed over to a lead who really could handle the role better and a production that could afford better wigs. The cast of 5 worked hard and the tap routine danced by Rita's younger self, Imogen Kingsley Smith and Fred Astaire, Joey Simon was excellent and made great use of the in the round setting. But all too often the singing bordered on shouting which wasn't always on key. The changing timeline was often confusing and lyrics like “You will not forget her when you’ve seen her in a sweater” are risable. I just wish that the role of Rita had been played by someone who you believed was a Love Goddess, but maybe I need to wait to see her as Rabbi Esther in the new feature "Circumcision" (I quote from her biog). Oh, and a special mention to the 2 phone users filming on their phones, one even had the phone's flashlight turned on in a blackout scene where the only other lights were from 2 small torch projectors, so that all got very confusing. Theatre 1/2 full.
