I saw this at the end of last week. Thought I would post even though the run has ended. I’m with ArbitraryGibberish, Steve and joem with this. Whilst the first half was very slow, the payoffs came in the second half. I thought it was a good depiction of the various characters and their different attitudes to the change/outside world - from embracing it to outright fear, but also the more nuanced approach of Aunt Mill who was willing to go along with the change from the Mr Hansen to keep on side with Francis. The denouncements were actually pretty shocking but believable. The lighting and in the round staging were fine (we tolerated the backless seating in the first 2 rows), and Jenna Russell really excellent. However, the odd mix of accents, slow start and some poor blocking (despite the revolve) didn’t help. Perhaps due to the run (or even lack) of comments here, I had gone with low expectations. Since I had booked already and the general quality of the YV productions, I’m really glad I went. 3.5 stars from me.
